Hi Marla, The mudslides and floods have caused huge damage in mountain area and southern Taiwan, which I guess you've learned from the news. Fortunately(?), the MCN Taiwan group are fine, for most of us live in the north where the typhoon didn't hit much. We just held a conference successfully a day before the Typhoon landed. How lucky! [MCN-L] MCN-Taiwan group OK?
Dear Marla and all, Nice to hear your warm message. Torrential rains and flood brought by Tropical Storm Morakot hit the south of Taiwan severely last weekend. Actually, the disaster brought huge damage to the remote area but very little hurt to Taipei metropolitan. Foutunately, most people here are safe and sound. A total of about 7,000 people had been evacuated. We are still working on rescure and recovery of those people who lost their home. Thousands of volunteers help to distribute relief packages to the victims and will continue help them rebuilding their homes and cleaning up after the flooding.
