[mcollective-users] Choria users list

2017-08-02 Thread R.I.Pienaar
hello,

I've set up a mailing list for Choria separate from MCollective Users.

   https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/choria-users

We're approaching a point where Choria will be quite a different thing
from mcollective so seems a good time.

For the forseeable future I'll post announcements and such on this list
and of course have no problem supporting people anywhere, but if Choria
users could start moving over there that would be great.

Thanks

[mcollective-users] Choria Module Releases

2017-08-02 Thread R.I.Pienaar
hello,

I am pleased to announce a bunch of releases from the Choria project.

While upgrading please take special care, as noted in previous emails
there are slight backward compatibility issues with this release.
Specifically:
 * An old Client can communicate with new Servers but a new Client
   cannot communicate with an old Server. If you need to retain the
   ability to manage machines using MCollective during the update please
   keep your client machines for last
 * All unmanaged configuration in server.cfg, client.cfg etc will be
   lost. The entire configuration is now managed using a template.
The breaking change to the protocol should hopefully be one of the last
before I start releasing things like a new *choria* binary that will
have it's own Broker and Federation Broker builtin and eventually
replace *mcollectived* with this same binary.
Special thanks to Luke Bigum, Robin Bowes, Daniel Helgenberger, Jos
Houtman and Mateusz Gozdek for their contributions to these releases!
*choria/mcollective_choria version 0.0.28:*

*Enhancements:*

 * Correctly serializes the innermost payload separately from
   other layers
 * Use base64 encoding consistently throughout the protocol rather than
   a mix of base64 and hex
 * Update nats-pure gem to 0.2.4
 * Support using supervisord to run the federation broker
*choria/mcollective version 0.0.26:*

*Enhancements:*

 * Support for OS X
 * Randomize the start times for the fact refresh cron job
 * Purge unmanaged configuration by using a template to manage
   config files
*choria/nats version 0.0.12:*

*Enhancements:*

 * TLS timeouts are configurable using *tls_timeout* and
   *cluster_tls_timeout*.
 * NATS upgraded to 1.0.0
