May have. FI is one thing I'll grant them. My FIL has an Ultra Classic with FI and its pretty sweet. He his the starter and it starts and idles perfectly every time. My Honda requires much fiddling until its ready to go. Of course my Honda will do 100mph with another gear left to go into... Anyway the downside is Harley apparently used cheap gasket material where the air intake (its not a carb, but some sort of metering dohicky) mates to the jug. On FIL's bike the gasket dried out, failed and he all of a sudden had a runaway engine. I did not enjoy test riding V65s or full dress GWs. Stand to the left of the bike, right hand under the edge of the seat or on the grab rail, left hand on the bars. Put your right foot on the tab on the centerstand and swing the stand down to the ground. With both sides of the centerstand on the ground, press down onto the stand with your foot while lifting up and to the back with your right hand. Your foot on the stand helps lever the bike up, and as you lift on the saddle, you get heavier while the bike gets lighter. I had to be taught this by the service manager. I'd had my own bikes since I was 15, but nothing heavy enough that I couldn't just pull back on the bars to get it on the stand. I loathe wedge-shaped short-throw low-loading trunk styling nearly as much as I loathe the pinched-off dog-doo look of that 80's caddy trunk. Though, the newest aero shaped one is starting to grow on me. There is one I see on a semi regular basis on my trip to and from work. Though a 108 or a 116 still beats it in my opinion. It's probably the era and my age, but the 107 and 116 are my favorites. A nice 100 will do, too, as does a 114 convertible. I think a 123 convertible is also pretty sweet. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

i don't believe you can buy anything off a lot and not get ripped off, so i think you did best by not opening up your wallet. i had the same things happen to me with an old sig .380 at a pawn shop . guy wanted 399 and was willing to take 350, but i insisted on 299. we did this for a while until some dude walked in with holy cow! i've always wanted one of these! do you know how rare these are? and happily paid 399 for it. Re: [MBZ] home rustoleum results
I have not done this with a car (yet) but have had pretty decent results in painting things like the tank on my air compressor. The foamy roller leaves a texture similar to the orange peel effect of spraying. The article says that the trick is to thin to the right consistency and I believe it as I have been getting reasonable results without thinning at all. It certainly is much better than using a brush. Easy cleanup too. I use a piece of aluminum foil in the small paint tray and then just toss it out so I don't have to clean it up. Throw away the foamy roller after it dries and no cleanup apart from the lip of the can tha you poured the paint out of. Only down side is that the silly little rollers are about $1 each and I have not found any source that sells them in bunches. Normally see them in packets of 1 to 6. I would buy a bag of 100 if they were cheap and good quality. My son has an old Jeep with lots of rusty spots. We are planning to use the foamy roller treatment on it to slow the rust and make it look a bit better. Not looking for show quality. Re: [MBZ] Post Falls SL
I pulled the ignition module back out, cleaned behind it, and put thermal grease between it and the fender wall. I put it back, and replaced the missing third mounting screw with one from the donor car so that it would be clamped down securely for good thermal contact. That took an hour that I didn't account for, I should have done it right the first time. I then pulled the ignition coil out and repaired its mount. One of the captive nuts was pulling through the fender wall so I hammered it back down. While I was there I rerouted the wiring to the coil so that I could put on the plastic coil cover from the donor car. (All wires exit the cover from the same side, and none of the ring terminals can hang over the side.) The AC/fuel heat exchanger is supposed to clamp to this same mount, but the clamping strap was gone. I fabricated a new one from the AC/fuel heat exchanger mount from the donor car, using the grinder, BFH, pliers, and the anvil. It clamps nicely around the new foam insulation, and doesn't even look too bad. With all this done everything is much more solidly mounted than before. Re: [MBZ] OT: Centerstands, was pillory!
That technique works for just about any Jap bike, I believe. I fought with my XV1100 Virago, actually dropping it once when I tried (I was under the bike, so it didn't hit the ground - it just smashed the crap out of me) to get it on the center stand. Finally, an old grizzled Harley guy I knew showed me the technique below - if he weighed 180 wet I would have been amazed. I cheat a bit when I park it in the garage - I took a piece of 4/4 oak about 8 long and 3 wide and screwed it to the garage floor where the back tire goes. I back it onto the piece of wood, which raises it off the floor about 2, put the center stand down and pull back. It comes right up with this approach. It saves a lot on my back and allows me to park it in a pretty narrow space where it's tough to get to the side of the bike with enough room to pull it up. Dan --- Mitch Haley [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I could centerstand a Gold Wing 1300 or a CB900F when I weighed 135lb. Had to, I was a Honda mechanic at the time. Most of the time most of the noise is coming from the air intake muffler. I'd make sure that both are in good shape. The bit rough could be tune-up or carb related (you hope). --- Tom Hargrave [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Most of the time most of the noise is coming from the air intake muffler. I'd make sure that both are in good shape. True. The majority of noise complaints for RV gensets are due to some sort of mechanical conflict, where something is not properly mounted or a mount has failed and some nimrod replaced it with the wrong thing. Vibration isolation is a real science on these things, and doing something like replacing a solid exhaust hanger with a rubber one (just the opposite that one would expect) can cause a boatload of vibration to be transmitted into the frame. The bit rough could be tune-up or carb related (you hope). These things tend to sit for years and the carb will gum up. Also very true. I can recall one day when I was in the office taking calls. A guy from the East was calling to complain about his generator not starting after being stored for over 6 months. Why, it should start right up, dang it! Uh, sir, would you expect your car to start right up after storing it outdoors in your yard for the winter? You're damned right I would! I'm really sorry sir, but I can't help you. Re: [MBZ] Ultra low sulfur diesel and old Injector Pumps
Sulfur is an anti-flux, that is, it does the opposite of promoting welding. That is its function in Extreme Pressure Lubricants and also, I suspect, in operation of old rotary Bosch IP's. IMHO, it's a poor deslulfurization process that removes something besides sulfur. I'd need to hear that the latest process removes not only the sulfur, but the goodies that lubricate, with some explanation of process, from a chemical engineer or someone similarly qualified. Paraffin is a generic name that refers to hydrocarbons having a particular type of structure. There are a whole series of paraffins of different molecular weights. Paraffin is not one chemical. That's all the chemical engineering I know or even suspect. Someone else will have to take it farther. Peter Merle wrote: It's the sulphur that's the lubricant , not pariffin PEter Sulfur is NOT a lubricant (where did you get that idea?). Re: [MBZ] Ultra low sulfur diesel and old Injector Pumps
The lubricating qualities of the sulfur in diesel fuel are in the sulfur containing organic molecules. There is no free sulfur dissolved in diesel fuel, it's all part of some carbon containing molecule (there are many). It's removed by breaking up those molecules and precipitating out the molecular sulfur. Those sulfur containing molecules provide most of the lubricating qualities of diesel fuel, and are in fact quite good high pressure lubricants (much better than the paraffins or linear hydrocarbons, which make up 90+ % of the bulk diesel). Taking them out greatly reduces the lubricating nature of the fuel.
