Hi Rusty -
If you need to change your Merchant account - I represent Merchant
Referral Services - the largest service in the US. Also, they provide
advances on future sales to businesses and base payments on sales. i.e., - a
slow month = reduced payment, a good month= higher payment. Not loans -
cash advances.

If interested, visit Visit: http://www.merchantreferralsolutions.com/A365706
or call me at 800 583-8601.

Not trying to be pushy - no more will be said.

BTW - who retains ownership of the business name buyeuroparts - that's a
valuable piece of business - Just curious.

Best of luck - I hope it works out well for you.

Listers, there have been some changes at BuyMBParts and I feel like
everyone on the lists should know about them. Gary Hurst and I are no
longer business partners. This actually happened back last January, but we
tried to not upset the applecart and we made the change semi transparent.
Last night Gary and I had a major difference of opinion and he decided to
end our relationship sometime during the night by deleting my email
address and removing me and my IM form the web site. This note is just to
let everyone know that I have no affiliation with the web and can not help
you with any issues if you place web orders. However, if you call us to
place orders we still will have the same or better pricing, plus access to
ALL Mercedes parts, not just web items and we can take care of any issues
that arise. Thank you all for your patronage on web and phone orders and I
look forward to hearing from you soon.

[MBZ] OT: Ranger brakes

2009-10-17 Thread Curt Raymond
So its time to put brakes on my '03 Ford Ranger. I'm 100% sure this truck was
mostly driven in town (before I got it I mean) considering it needs brakes at
32,000 miles.

I'm going to go the Akebono route, the amount of dust from the factory pads is
awful. So my wife took it over to Meineke the other day. They quoted $180 for
ceramic pads and turning the rotors. He says he can't get Akebono for a
Ranger. Rock Auto says they can, $61. They also list a Wagner ceramic which I
presume is what they're talking about putting on.
Any opinions on Wagner ceramic pads? RockAuto lists them for $45, I don't mind
an extra $16 for Akebono if its worth it but I also don't know how Meineke will
howl about putting on customer provided parts.

I'm sort of our of comission for working on cars right now, my body is being a
fink. I get chest pains when I exert myself. The one thing the doc is pretty
sure it isn't is my heart...

Anyway, comments appreciated.

cheapest cars, and certainly not any of the Germans and non-metallic) so
the
selections may be limited. The advantage to two stage is that when you
polish it, you are polishing the clear and not the base coat which BTW is

The paint manufacturer (I won't give the name, but if anyone want to know,
email me privately) is re-emburseing my shop to re-shoot my car. It was
determined by my body shop and the rep that it was a failure of the paint,
not the application or the prep. When I questioned why there was no
clearcoat, (answer:solids are shot single stage; metallics shot BC/CC.), he
offered to re-shoot it as BC/CC, hence, my question. Based on what I've
read and the link provided by Larry T(?), I'll be taking the BC/CC route.

I was also planning on r/r the bumper chrome but I think I'll wait till the
spring. And my shop said no problem doing that part of the job in the
spring.

One more thing..anyone have some nice, newer W126 Palomino seats or

ANY shop can change brake pads.  Find one who's willing to order the
brand you want.

Turning the rotors might be unnecessary unless they're warped or badly
scored.

Curt Raymond curtlud...@yahoo.com writes:

So its time to put brakes on my '03 Ford Ranger. I'm 100% sure this
truck was mostly driven in town (before I got it I mean) considering
it needs brakes at 32,000 miles.

I'm going to go the Akebono route, the amount of dust from the factory
pads is awful. So my wife took it over to Meineke the other day. They
quoted $180 for ceramic pads and turning the rotors. He says he
can't get Akebono for a Ranger. Rock Auto says they can, $61. They
also list a Wagner ceramic which I presume is what they're talking
about putting on.  Any opinions on Wagner ceramic pads? RockAuto lists
them for $45, I don't mind an extra $16 for Akebono if its worth it
but I also don't know how Meineke will howl about putting on customer
 provided parts.

I'm sort of our of comission for working on cars right now, my body is
being a fink. I get chest pains when I exert myself. The one thing the
doc is pretty sure it isn't is my heart...

 Anyway, comments appreciated.

Which is why I didn't do anything about it at first. Now its been 3 or 4 weeks
and no improvement so I finally saw the doc. I've had untreated high blood
pressure for awhile which got better with some weightloss and diet change but
not better enough. He's got me on a BP pill which makes me wicked tired and
emotional, I hate it... He says I only need to stay on it (its a beta blocker)
until we get the pains figured out.

I don't think its a heart thing because I'm still strong and have no pain
lifting heavy things, I just can't do them fast... I've been building a new
wood rack today and had no pain moving 3 8' 2x4s at a time but when I went back
to the truck and forgot myself I apparently moved too quickly, by the time I
got back to my work area I had to rest... Fortunately as long as I don't push
on once it starts hurting the hurt goes away fast. Its still kind of scary
though.

If I recall correctly, and if it's like a W123, the fitting is a part of
the pedal. Take the pedal off the floor and the fitting off the metal arm
and have a close look. You can probably see if something has been broken.

I remember reading several years ago, the paint problem was traced to the
deodorant being used by the guys doing the prep work on the cars.  While
leaning over them, I guess bits of dry deodorant was flaking and dropping
off, and reacting to the paint when applied.  How they discovered that, I
have no idea.

Around here most 10-15 year old Cherokee and Grand Cherokees will have

Re: [MBZ] paint problems

2009-10-17 Thread RELNGSON
.I remember reading several years ago, the paint problem was traced
 to the
deodorant being used by the guys doing the prep work on the
 cars...

When my friend SJB was in the process of restoration of his 1956 Porsche
Speedster and after all of the metalwork was finished ($13K), he helped the
painter sand and fill the body which took quite some time. BTW, I hesitate to
use the term the painter because he is a true artist and works only on
worthy cars which means no insurance jobs knocking the dents out of Buicks.
Porsche (mostly), Mercedes, lately some Ferraris etc. His work is usually
perfect.

So when the car was finally painted and left closed up in the paint booth
for several days, the paint was covered (a slight exaggeration) with
fisheyes. To call this a disaster was an understatement and the paint company
rep
was contacted. This was a catalyzed paint with no clearcoat and might have
been Sikkens but I'm not sure.

The paint rep took one look at the fisheyes and said he had seen this
before. He said, somebody with acidic skin oil has been prepping this car. My
friend admitted that he had had fisheyes show up on his at-home paint work and
never knew what caused them. They had to start over with all the prep work
and do it all over. From then on my friend wore gloves when touching the car
before it was refinished.

He never revealed what the entire process cost but what with painting it
twice and the labor I thought it to be over ten grand. The color is Signal Red
(correct for that year) and the interior is tan leather. In fact, the car
is 100% correct. We spent five years from start to finish.

I would post a couple of pictures of it but I admit not knowing how to get
by the picture stripper. Or is that picture striplin?

Re: [MBZ] Accel pedal

2009-10-17 Thread Rich Thomas
I actually got my spectacles and a light and was able to see how the
thing is organized, The little piece on the arm indeed is supposed to
be attached to the pedal, and to get it off/on you rotate it until a
little pointy end of the arm lines up with the absence of a pointy bit,
and the little piece on the arm slides off. There is a little catch
thingie at the bottom that holds the pedal to the floor. It seems like
a fairly stupid design, hardly up to Benz engineering standards to have
just a little plastic hinge to make the accel work. But their cheap
enough, I guess I'll get two because the boy's car will likely fail at

If I recall correctly, and if it's like a W123, the fitting is a part of

The picture process is really simple:

1. You post an email with pictures.

2. If it's over 40 kB (and most likely the pictures will put it over
that), Kaleb has to review it.

3. After Kaleb approves it, the email is posted to the list with links to

standards to have just a little plastic hinge to make the accel work.

And yet, they hardly ever break. I've had one in my entire fleet.
And it was the sliding plastic socket, probably broken when someone
floored it excessively stupidly. I glued it back together and it
was fine thereafter.

I've never had to replace an accelerator pedal. The metal-hinged
one on my Falcon rusted away, however. Plastic in that location
is not such a bad thing.
