2010-11-17 Thread Dillon, Meade M CIV SPAWARSYSCEN-ATLANTIC, 53310
I think that the law requires the deer to be secured to the vehicle on the
exterior, with the proper registration tag attached to the deer, so that DNR
officers can easily check to see if the deer is a legal kill or poached.

Last time I got a buck, it rode on the trunk of a '67 Plymouth VIP (with
Commando V8) to the meat processor, and then rode in the back seat (in the form
of steaks, burger, sausage) on the trip home. If I'd had a Mercedes, I guess
I'd instantly become a redneck for doing the same thing...

No sign of bent axles AFAIK. Both were purchased new, I think they're a 2003 and
a 2006. Seems like they get 10,000 miles or so out of 13 tires rated double the
weight they're carrying. Now that you mention it, I think the tires do wear on

Yeah, sounds like an honest seller. When was the last time you saw
someone selling an old car admit that the A/C is just plain broken,
instead of needs a charge?

I like that the stereo, though not original, is a newer Becker rather
than a Sony or some such with lots of cheesy light-up graphics and
fiddly little buttons. Classy.

The spelling and grammar errors are consistent with a particular group
of non-native speakers of English. I wouldn't be too hard on him.

Due to a hood repaint of my '85 300TD by a previous owner with incompatible
paint I'm considering removing the hood, stripping to bare metal, sanding,
priming , and taking the hood to a local paint guy who has agreed to paint it
for for me. Can anyone on the list direct me as to how to correctly remove the
windshield washer squirters in the hood? TIA.

[MBZ] Fuel stabilizer

2010-11-17 Thread Jerry Herrman
I'm seeking answers about products such as Sta-Bil which claim to preserve your
supply of gasoline and prevent it from deteriorating.

1. How long before gas deteriorates to the point of concern? I've heard 20 days
and I've heard 30 days.

2. What exactly is it preventing? A bad smell, varnish?

3. How long will these products hold off the inevitable deterioration?

4. What is the shelf life of an unopened container of this stuff?

5. Shelf life of a container that has been partially used?

6. I've heard mixing old gas with new makes it OK to run in a car. Correct?

7. Does this stuff work for diesel fuel?

8. Will adding a can of fuel system cleaner (like Chevron Pro-gard) ) undo any
harm that came from using old gas? this also apply to lawnmowers?

Be interested in getting informed opinions.

Can anyone on the list direct me as to how to correctly remove the
windshield washer squirters in the hood? TIA.

There are plastic ears on the stem that goes through the
hood, they need to be squeezed in so that the squirter
pops up through the hood. Can be hard to do without
damaging the paint. Maybe not such an issue for you.

Also, I turn left and I turn right center and back left again and on the
second left it does not squeek. Slow turning brings no squeeking. I had
the car on a 2x6 and had friend turn left and right and I could feel
vibration in dust shield, springs, sway bar but not the control arm.

You know I might have damaged the steering shock on accident this last

[MBZ] OT Trailer

2010-11-17 Thread Rich Thomas
OK so today I found a used trailer in really good condition and bought
it for what I thought was a good price, from a big trailer place that
does a lot of business with racing teams, seemed legit. Some guy had
just traded this one in on another one, it looked barely used. 16ft with
a 2ft drop end and removable ramps, and elec brakes, tires almost new,
they had serviced it. I told the guy I wanted a 7000lb he says yep this
one has 2 3500lb axles, rated 7000lb. So then I get home and it says
Gross Weight 5000lb stamped on the tongue (which the guy looked at and
told me, I did not have my spectacles so couldn't make it out). I call
him up, he says the trailer is 2000lb and it can haul 5000lb, but he was
gonna check and call me back, which he did not do late this afternoon.
Anyway, to me, gross weight is full-up weight of the trailer plus load,
not just the load. Am I wrong?

My point exactly. I have had a couple of MBs that came with a yellow
tag on the key, although they did NOT come from a dealer. I have
left the yellow on to ID the key being matched to that car. Seems

Anyway, they only last a couple of years, before they disintegrate.
