I do see copper commonly used with propane. Our little popup camper has a propane bottle and a 2-burner stove, and it's all plumbed with soft copper tube. With natural gas, the story was/is that the odorant and trace gasses like hydrogen sulfide caused corrosion of copper pipes. If you see copper pipe used for natural gas it may be tin-lined internally. Or it may be a code violation, depending where you are. I did not take Gump out for extended road trips because she did not have cruise and was manual. After 400 miles, my knees hurt from keeping the Go pedal down. The 17 year old E300D, on the other hand is a joy to drive all over creation. Cruise works, and even with dead ACC, I would take her anyplace. Seattle to Butte, MT or down to Phoenix. Took her from Seattle to DC and then back by way of Horlando. I got 35mpg all day long, and was doing 660 mile days between tanks of fuel. Frosch, on the other hand gets all of 200+ miles on a tank and I would need to rebuild the old Ford/Philco CC to take her beyond a tanks worth of fuel in a day. clay On Jul 18, 2012, at 8:56 PM, relng...@aol.com wrote: Diesel people are in it long term and do a lot of long haul driving on the highway where a diesel excels. What I was told back in the 70s was that gas makes copper brittle, and you need to use black iron. However, I have seen no evidence. I suspect it was the stranglehold the iron/steel industry had on the gummit, that saw to it that the gummit inspectors had to insist on black iron. My parents have a similar setup from their tank to the house, it goes probably 20' under the yard. Then copper through the house to the stove/oven. I remember it being installed back in '80. My grandmother's runs all copper inside the house from the tank to the stove and water heater. Who knows how old that is, the house was built in 1790 or thereabouts. City/natural gas is very low pressure, or once was, so you need a fairly large diameter pipe to get 'er done without significant friction losses. Large-diameter copper pipe is tres expensive, and always has been when compared to iron. Iron's increased labor costs are, I'm sure, more than compensated for by the cheaper material in that size. Small-diameter copper pipe, suitable for propane's higher pressures, is much easier to run. and probably doesn't cost 'too much'. The iron pipe is also pretty hard to damage, like with a wayward nail. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Pensioner shoots two teenagers as he foils attempted armed robbery in Ocala, Florida Samuel Williams, 71, is seen chasing and shooting two teenagers who attempted to rob customers at the Palms internet Cafe in Ocala, Florida on Friday. The footage shows one teenager was armed with a gun and the other a bat when they burst into the café, but Mr Williams surprised both of them when he pulled out a gun of his own and opened fire on them. The pensioner, licensed by the state of Florida to carry a concealed weapon, chased the two assailants and kept firing at them as they fled. This guy kept popping, said one witness. He didn't stop, he just kept popping, you know? So, I think he shot both of them. After he started firing, they took off, said Judge Cochran of the Marion County Sheriff's Office. They fell on top of each other trying to get out of the café. Nineteen-year-old suspects Duwayne Henderson and Davis Dawkins were wounded by the gunfire and taken to the hospital. Both were arrested and later released on bail. http://truckingstartupauthorityandservices.com/2012/07/pensioner-shoots-two-teenagers-as-he-foils-attempted-armed-robbery-in-florida.html Gerry wrote: Good quality security camera video; well worth watching. Now watch some of the media sob sisters accuse this guy of assault with a deadly weapon because he chased them. In their view he should have warned them or shot once and then waited until the guy with the gun shot at him, I suppose. The fact that they both got out on bail was rediculous. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
