[MBZ] sometimes things get worse and worse
Folks well, the good thing is i'm at the beach on tybee island the bad thing is that i and my 82 30td need to get back to athens so i can try to solve some mtor scooter problems for some unhappy customers. ok, here's the story. The car has been running well on this trip. Yesterday morning, i drove it about 2 miles, uneventfully. Yesterday afternoon, i topped it off with clean WVO, packed up and headed for Athens. It was running rough, like fuel starvation. I limped about a mile, then stopped and changed the small secondary filter. There was a bit of crud in it. I primed and started up and got maybe 1/8 of a mile and the car stopped cold. I replaced the primary filter and filled it with ATF. The old one had some unusual waxy substance like thick crisco around the top of the filter. Anyway, i primed things, but it would never start. I called one of my neighbors and he dragged me home with a chain. I tried to start it but it wouldn't really turn the engine over, i guess we weren't fast enough. I cleaned the banjo line from the filter to the IP. It was fine. I removed all the injector line and they are clear. Reinstalled. I have the #1 injector line off and am NOT getting any squirt of fuel out of the top of the IP I hooked up a garden sprayer to the fuel line ... i loaded it with WVO and mineral sprits and a squirt of gas i applied a little pressure ... it primed automatically but also blows fuel out of the tank with no cap Ideas? email me directly if you have good ones still no squirt out of the ip thanks xx rick ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

[MBZ] '68 250S - '69 280SE Parts Compatibility
Well, a couple of weeks ago, I bought a '68 250S with carb issues. It's a good solid car with little or no rust in all of the usual suspect places. Original paint all around, and I had no problem with the magnet sticking everywhere. I had it on a reliable source that the car ran great for about 3 weeks after the PO spent $900 on carb work (saw receipt) before it returned to its somnolent state. Upon removing the carb cover, all we could smell was varnish, and the PO has told me that he did not do anything to the tank or lines. Hmmm, I think we figured this one out. While working through this, I happened, by chance , to come across a '69 280SE with a seized engine. The body is pretty good (not as good as the 250S), but the interior trim pieces on the doors and dash are all better. I am thinking this could become a donor car for the 250S, but am concerned about the compatibility of the parts, i.e: fuel tank lines, suspension parts, AC parts, steering pump, etc. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Yes, the license(s) go with the box. I have everything that came with it from the original install. It's a beast, running 8 processors and 64GB of RAM, I believe. It was completely decked out when purchased new. We just built a VM box that the circulation system runs on now (not sure who's software they're using, but the guest OS is Windows 2008 Server) so they have no need for this one any more. I'm not sure how much drive space it has, but that's not an issue as I could boot off one of the HBAs from one of our two IBM XIV storage systems. I would like to find something to do with it, as otherwise it will get surplused and sold for pennies on the dollar. I know it's beyond EOL for Sun, but it's certainly powerful enough to do other stuff, I would think... Dan On Oct 21, 2012, at 5:41 PM, Rich Thomas wrote: Does it have the OS? i think there are a lot of problems with electric vehicles - batteries and range. all electric is something of a novelty that works best for short trips in-town. many diesel owners here like low tech and driving long distances, so its not surprising that many here do not like them. Re: [MBZ] For All You Sun Computer People - OT
That thing will probably suck a LOT of power. And according to Wikipedia the V890 had UltraSPARC processors, and it's also EOL-ed so no support or parts other than what you can find on the secondhand market. I don't think any VMWare stuff will run on Sparc. But not certain. I think you be better off with a more power-efficient, newer Intel or AMD-based host. Should make a good parts car. Different engine, but most other parts are most likely interchangeable. Fuel tank should be the same.
