[MBZ] OT - Linux Guru Needed

2014-11-19 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Got an issue at work that should be fairly simple to do, but I'm not savvy
enough Linux-wise and my peers aren't having much luck either.

It involves the ability to browse a shared Windows drive from the Linux box
(Samba?) Or determine if the share is accessible.

The Linux distro on the box is a proprietary one, too, which is compounding
things.

Drop me a note off list, please, and thanks!

[MBZ] OT - Apple computer question

A friend has a late model apple computer - about a year old.
He says that lately when he saves a file it saves about 4 extra copies
on various directories.

He has no idea why it has started to do so.

Anyone have an idea or an easy way to fix it so it stops doing so?
He also wonders if there is any easy way to remove the extra copies of
the files?

That sounds weird. Can't help you. What program is saving the files?

You can put the file name in the finder search (the little magnifying
glass at top right) and when the various copies are found they could be
trashed, unless somehow they are all the same one file somehow labeled
with various locations.

Re: [MBZ] Selling My 1983 300D

2014-11-19 Thread archer75--- via Mercedes
Mine is roughly the same as Rogers but with 307K miles and original drive train
except for axles replaced due to leaking boots.
Oxidized blue needs paint or Dans treatment might do it.
No rust, driver seat good, passenger seat back broken and needs welding or
fishplating, inside is basically rough, sun roof opens but must be cranked
shut, front-end rebuilt at about 200K and still good, new radiator few years
ago, tires at about half-life, bundt wheels, new battery and alt last year,
Mobil 1 every 5 to 7K miles since about year 2001, new chain 300K, engine
starts with half rev of starter, new rubber drive train mounts last year, fuel
tank washed about 2 years ago and constant fuel treatment since, transmission
has needed B-2 piston since I bought the car at about 180K, LR window needs
lifter/propped shut now, recent heat valve insert, recent new (A/C pump,
filter, expansion valve, system cleaning), recent new belts and hoses, noisy
differential, new differential comes with car, recent new brake booster/master
cylinder/etc., lots of other small bits such as door strikers, ignition key
switch, vacuum parts, etc., big bag of new small parts, spare water pump and
altern
ator, and probably many items I forgot to mention. It's been my daily driver
since 2000 and consistently gets 27 mpg road and city driving around Citrus
County.
Gerry
P.S. Price would be negotiable and reasonable since I now have 3 cars and only
want to keep 2. Otherwise, can someone tell me the name of a good car cover
that will withstand Florida summer heat?
After a month driving a Prius I'm beginning to miss working on Mercedes and
might wind up doing a total rebuild on the 300D. Working on Mercedes is more
fun than the treadmill.

Na, he wins the /8 prize so far, but the original contest specified
W123. So far Rick has the 123 record for this august (or January)
group

(January because we are having January weather, not August or even November.)

My first 126 had 420k when i let it go.

Current 126 heap had 416k on it when the odo quit long before I
bought it 3 yrs ago. No idea how many miles it has on now.

My 1980s winter heap, a 65 190Dc had over 400k when I bought it and I
put on a bunch more. It was under 500k when it was crushed. (110)

all the other 123, 124, 126 cars have over 200k and under 300k.
Broken in but not high mileage. 110 has around 400k but I can't
document the first 270 or so
