[MBZ] Buh-bye, 300E
The 92 300E 2.6 that Tony so willingly sold to my oldest son has moved along. After getting close to 220k, peeling clear coat, tired paint, mysterious oil leak and ever weeping water pump, eldest son finally took the initiative and sold it to his first potential buyer last night for $700. Not a bad deal for him, as he paid $1000 for it almost exactly three years ago. He now moves to the 98 S420, for which I sold it to him for - you guessed it - $700! He's pumped, especially because the S420 fits him much better at 6'6 or more. And it's a nicer car, too Dan Sent from my iPad ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com All posts are the result of individual contributors and as such, those individuals are responsible for the content of the post. No, but direct supervision and advanced troubleshooting skills are provided at no cost. In other words, when there's a problem, he gets to go through the diagnostic steps with supervision. That way he learns how to do it and I get to keep my hands clean. I realize that as my kids get older and have more funds available they will move up to newer cars that require far less maintenance. At least for now I can help them learn diagnostic skills that they can (hopefully) apply later in life. Not to mention they have a much higher appreciation for the car when they're the one who has to fix and maintain stuff. In fact, I have to occasionally reign in the oldest boy or he would have the thing in pieces on the garage floor. A good thing, sort of, but not when it's his daily driver. Re: [MBZ] Way OT: Calculating NPV
Is this a variant of the standard 5-tuple: present-value, interest rate, period, payment, future value? On those you just punch in the four you know, hitting the marked key after each, then push the last key (of the five) and it'll give it to you. Signs are used to aim the algorithm in the right direction. (Payment vs income, etc.) A little experimentation ought to give him the right value. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com All posts are the result of individual contributors and as such, those individuals are responsible for the content of the post. Possibly; easier to lay it on a B-52, though, if a row of 'em is viewed from above. The usual load for a B-52D in that area and time was 108 500-pounders released in a string or train, usually leaving a row of 108 craters. They look like a Mustang. I have come to accept this. Like the W140, which got a facelift in 1996, the R129s were significantly better as far as quality and reliability from 1996 on. They got the electronic five speed 722.6 transmission, redesigned ACC system and a number of less significant tweaks. They definitely give meaning to the term roadster, however. After driving a W140, the R129 is like riding in a little red wagon down a rough sidewalk. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The R129 looks much better than the earlier versions unless one goes all the way back into the era of the W113. I would agree. Try as I might, I have never been able to like the styling of the W107 models. I never really like the W116s, either, which are very close in design to the W107s in my opinion. I seriously considered a couple of different W107s in my search, but I just couldn't convince myself that this was the way I wanted to go. I'm happy with the R129, but I will say that it's a real contrast with the other models of its' vintage. Pretty bare bones in a lot of respects, nowhere near the amenities of the larger sedans of the time. Given the choice, I would give it up in a heartbeat for a W140 sedan of the same vintage. Re: [MBZ] OT: OTA TV Question
I am going to assume that chicago has a stronger signal than south bend. Also, that there are only digital channels, no analog. A high power omni directional digital antenna should be able to suck down signal from both. I had to find out about this stuff in trying to get OTA tv for SWMBA in AK. She lives too near the airport and any channels are drowned out by the radio emissions for fly boys. Rabbit ears were worthless, a mid-price digital was not able to get more than UHF level signals, no major networks. IF you have a turboDiesel, you really should have an EGT gauge and a boost gauge. I have never forgiven MB or VW for thinking these are not necessary in the US/NA. My old Bosch injection guy thought they were necessary for ANY Diesel engine. Back 30 years ago it was hundreds of bucks to get an EGT pyrometer.
