[MBZ] SEC -- 500 or 560?

I am feeling ambivalent about getting a C107 project, and found two SEC that 
might fit the bill.  One is the older, the other an 87.  Is the post facelift a 
better project, or would the earlier SEC be just as fulfilling to play with?  I 
am going to assume neither one has functional AC.  What other issues would I be 
wanting to keep an eye out for?  Lambo doors are a given, down the road.  For 
now I am thinking I would deck it out in Polizei livery, lights and all.  
Probably rattle can spray and there are enough of the w126 at yards that I 
could find the standard parts.

[MBZ] Walt's W140 in Seattle For Sale

  If you're looking for a nice W140 I am selling mine. Asking $9500 OBOI 
have a 1992 W-140 300SD badged as a S350 with 143,000 miles.
The car is located in Everett, Washington 25 miles North of Seattle.Just about 
EVERYTHING new and ALL factory replaced by a Mercedes dealer. 
I am a 2nd owner and have had the car since 1998.At 75,000 miles, a NEW factory 
engine, new evaporator, new turbo, new front springs, newshocks, new control 
arm bushings, new exhaust, new injection pump, new engine boost sensor/manifold 
pressure sensor new crankshaft positionsensor new wiring harness, new water 
pump, new blower motor, new enginemounts (all 3), new Fan and Fan Blade Drive 
(main coolant fan), new throttle linkages,new belt tensioner spring. new rubber 
lines, Vacuum fittings and Misc.lines, seals, gaskets, etc you name it the 
factory replaced it. If itsqueaked, clicked or hummed. I got it replaced, ALL 
RECORDS since the day it 
rolled off the boat here in Seattle.On the road I am getting 30 MPG (I have got 
31 but I was the only me and my toothbrush), 
around town getting 22 MPG. It has 800 mile legs with a 28 gal tank. 
Bose AM/FM with 6 CD capacity.  Also have the original Books, First Aid packet 
and Tool Kit.Thermo-pane windows (double thick just like your house)

At 142,000 miles I replaced all Brakes, Generator, Radiator, A/C compressor, 
wiring Harness.
Windshield wipers.Again I have EVERY receipt since it rolled off the boat. Also 
Have ALL Original books, 
Complete Maintenance CD, Original MB 140 VCR sales Tape, 2 New Extra Filters
(Oil and Air) and an extra Hub for your snow tires. This car runs like a Swiss 
Watch.

OKNow the Bad News. Bumper paint has a few chips, 2 small Car door dings in 
left rear door, 
Just recently the antenna stopped working, this was after they replaced the 
Radiator (coincidence?)
The motor still runs but it doesn't go up. I can still get local stations 
though. 
Right front fender has a small scrape, I cut it a little close when parking.

That one I got for $40some works pretty well, a 32GB SD card was another 
$20 if I recall.  In general all this cheepchineechit is throwaway stuff 
anyway, it's like insurance, if you ever need it is there, if it fails 
after a few months you've paid a few $$ a month for the dashcam 
insurance, then get another one.

You will get $17 worth of dashcam if you purchase this item. The first
thing that I noticed was that it resembles a cheap toy. It is of molded
plastic construction and not precision made. The nuts for the mounting
attachment and swivel attachment are molded plastic and I was afraid to
strip their threads, and cross-threading them is very possible. The
swivel screen is equally non-precision and moves laterally about its
hinge pin. Since I was afraid to tighten the swivel nut more than
moderately finger tight, the entire assembly moved when I closed the
swivel screen so I had to guess the correct position, which was too low
to capture traffic lights as a result. It has approximately 60° field of
view, forward only, and the image quality is not great. It records in AVI
format and a 16 minute drive video was 1.2 GB, so it will probably loop
after several hours which is OK. However, in the videos I took, the
license plate numbers of other vehicles could not be distinguished (see
video). Only the date and time accompany the videos, there is no GPS
function therefore no speed or location information. It records sound but
the sound volume becomes inaudible after about a minute of the video
playback, indicating an anomaly with the microphone pickup level
management. I have not tried it at night yet, nor have tried it long
enough to asses the battery life. I am really scratching my head about
all the unbiased 4 and 5 star reviews...but on a positive note,
it records video, and takes pictures. Oh well, I shall probably donate it
to a needy person (not worth the hassle of RMA) and buy a more upmarket
product.

If you're looking for a nice W140 I am selling mine.I have a 1992 W-140 300SD 
badged as a S350 with 143,000 miles. 
The car is located in Everett, Washington 25 miles North of Seattle.Just about 
EVERYTHING new and ALL factory replaced by a Mercedes dealer. 
I am a 2nd owner and have had the car since 1999.At 75,000 miles, a NEW factory 
engine, new evaporator, new turbo, new front springs, newshocks, new control 
arm bushings, new exhaust, new injection pump, new engine boost sensor/manifold 
pressure sensor new crankshaft positionsensor new wiring harness, new water 
pump, new blower motor, new enginemounts (all 3), new Fan and Fan Blade Drive 
(main coolant fan), new throttle linkages,new belt tensioner spring. new rubber 
lines, Vacuum fittings and Misc.lines, seals, gaskets, etc you name it the 
factory replaced it. If itsqueaked, clicked or hummed. I got it replaced, ALL 
RECORDS since the day it 
rolled off the boat here in Seattle.On the road I am getting 30 MPG ( I have 
got 31 but I was the only person and no baggage), 
around town getting 22 MPG. It has 800 mile legs with a 28 gal tank. 
Bose AM/FM with 6 CD capacity. Thermo-pane windows (double thick just like your 
house) 

At 142,000 miles I replaced all Brakes, Generator, Radiator, A/C compressor, 
wiring Harness. 
Windshield wipers.Again I have EVERY receipt since it rolled off the boat. Also 
Have ALL Original books, 
Complete Maintenance CD, Original MB 140 VCR sales Tape, 2 New Extra Filters 
(Oil and Air). This car runs like a Swiss Watch. 

OKNow the Bad News. Bumper paint has a few chips, 2 small Car door dings in 
left rear door, 
Just recently the antenna stopped working, this was after they replaced the 
Radiator (coincidence?) 
The motor still runs but it doesn't go up. I can still get local stations. 
Right front fender has a small scrape, I cut it a little close when parking. 

I can deliver anywhere for costs and trip back.
