Next try to eliminate all highly processed "food", like white

We have found that whole ground dates (chucks coated in oat
flour to keep it from becoming one big lump) works well as a
sweetener in a lot of baking. Avoid the "fake" sweeteners.
All the ones I've researched are nasty.

Quite likely, that will take care of a lot of divers stuff -
possibly even sleep issues. If that isn't enough to get your
weight where you want it, the next step is to separate the
eating of starch and fats/oils. THM (Trim Healthy Mama) has
popularized this technique. No need to count carbs, limit
service sizes, etc - just keep eat the starch and the
fats/oils at least 4 hours apart.

And drink water. It's really hard to drink too much.

Oh, and get sea salt with lots of trace minerals. Then use as
much as your tongue wants.

There will be a few weeks of sugar withdrawal, but after that it's
not hard - unless you try to eat food made someplace other than
your own kitchen. :)

Diet anything can't be good for you. Ice tea in large quantities is
why you've lost weight, it's just water you've let go as tea is a
dieuretic. Drink water, it's all you really need. Pack your own lunch,
fast food is loaded with salt and expensive. Ranch is just sugar...

I have been sticking with unsweetened tea but am considering trying
diet soda. I have heard mixed reviews on it. Some say it's fine to
drink with this sort of diet, others say it can slow down things even
though it has no calories or carbs. I may try it and see how it goes.
I do know several years ago I pretty much cut out all sugar and drank
diet soda and I lost weight just doing that.

Don't worry so much about carbs. There are simple carbohydrates, like
sugar and glucose. Those go quickly into the blood. You want to reduce
those. Complex carbohydrates take much longer to digest. Eat fruit and
veg and meat. You can lo se weight eating spuds.

Total calorie intake and the quality of the food is what is important.

So one thing that has come to my attention is it seems that when
cutting carbs drastically it seems that the fiber is also low, which
can lead to a whole new set of problems such as getting plugged up.
Got to figure out some things I can eat for fiber that do not have too
many carbs.

Interesting that people mention Pepsi by name.
I can drink 1000 calories of Dr Pepper a day with no ill effects aside from
weight gain, but if I drink a 12pk of Pepsi in a week my GERD comes back every
time.
No meaningful advice for Andrew, if Nexium won't solve it, it's beyond my

[MBZ] tars

2017-10-14 Thread Curley McLain via Mercedes

Anyone heard of or used simpletire.com?

They claim to be an aggregator of local tar shops. They showed 225 65
R16 nokian entyre2.0 for $98 ea shipped. However their website does
not show this size/price. I'll call em on Monday.

I'd guess the nokian might not slip belts. Every US made tire I have
had except the high end badyears that came on the quantum 30 yrs ago
have slipped belts. Same for frog built michelins.

None of the european built continentals or other brands ever slipped a
belt. All from eurotire, when they were a mail order discounter.
They will still ship, but are NOT near cheap.

The Blizzaks never slipped a belt (out of 10 tires, 2 sets of 4 and one
pair)

Arby's sauce with a side salad. That was 11 carbs. Today it was a McDonald
quarter pounder with cheese with no bun or Catsup with a side salad. I can have
ranch but their ranch had 11 carbs as opposed to most other ranch that has 1-2.
So that meal ended up being 20 carbs. Dinner will be grilled chicken breast and
green beans with probably a hard boiled egg and maybe a couple is slices of
cheese. Should keep me under 30 which is well under my goal.

I have been sticking with unsweetened tea but am considering trying diet soda.
I have heard mixed reviews on it. Some say it's fine to drink with this sort of
diet, others say it can slow down things even though it has no calories or
carbs. I may try it and see how it goes. I do know several years ago I pretty
much cut out all sugar and drank diet soda and I lost weight just doing that.

Think bacon butter... whole milk... full fat Greek yogurt...
And don't use vegetable oils, or that artificial crap.

Rick

If if won't spoil, it is NOT food! Locally grown fats are the best.
Find a local meat locker, dairy etc. BTW, store lard is plastic, don't
use it. Render your own or buy it from a locker that renders their own
and tells you it has to be refrigerated or frozen to keep a while. Try
to avoid meats grown with antibiotics, hormones, etc. Try to avoid
GMO: corn, soybean, canola, cotton seed oil, etc. Grape seed oil or a
few brands of olive oil are ok where you can't use butter or clean
animal fat.

Seems like this group comprises all the major ailments, which offers me
hope for an answer to the question I am about to pose.

Several years back I developed a gastrointestinal reflux issue (GERD) that
only manifests itself when I am asleep. I typically awake thirsty around
4 AM because my mouth dries out (mouth breather), and when I take a sip of
water that immediately detonates the GERD depth charger. I get this queasy
feeling that keeps me from going back to sleep.

I've also tried a Tums at bed time, with very limited success, as well as
ginger pills and Nexium-and Prevacid type drugs. The latter only makes
things worse. Oddly, I never have any symptoms when awake during the day,
and the symptoms are almost exclusively triggered when I take that 4AM sip
of water. Ideally, I wuld like to take a pill at bedtime to get me through
this nasty ritual.

Anyone else BTDT?

problem for

The first thing I would do would be to make an appt with a gastroenterologist
since the symptoms seem strange. A heliobacter pylori infection, which can
cause gerd, can also cause stomach cancer.

https://www.google.com/search?client=opera=bacterium+that+causes+gerd=opera=UTF-8=UTF-8

If the doctor prescribed Nexium or Prevacid or similar drugs, I would ask for a
ranitidine 150 mg prescription since it doesn't have the most serious side
effects of the others.

That's what I would do. I'm not suggesting that you do the same, however, since
"practicing medicine without a license" could cost me my lab rat licence and I
might need it again if the government guts social security any more than they
have already by eliminating COLA.
Good luck,
Gerry
