yes. 30v and 150 amp or 200 amp should do it. About $20 on fleabay if you can wait a month for it to get here from china. Probably for $30 or 40 I can get one quicker. I want to dig out the original before I decide what to do. it has 6 diodes in place of the ordinary 4. There is a good auto electric here that may have the originals. Yes, I noticed that but wanted to go through the nannies to see what they were complaining about and clear those issues. It wouldn’t do anything until I got that sorted, those faults are kinda hard impediments to starting. Once I got the various errors cleared the starter at least clunked. And I got the key fob and the nannies back on speaking terms so that helped too, so I know the fob is not the issue. I’ll give it a go in the A with a battery full of electrons. Apparently similar to what is used in car alternators. Doing some online research, it seems like a blown diode makes a welder buzz loud. I was welding on an MB one day. in the merry merry month of november... then the welder started buzzing when I was not welding. I shut it down right away, then tried it again a couple times. I thought it sounded like the fan may be loose on the motor shaft. THe welder is a Century 100 125v 100 A mig. 20% duty cycle. I have not used it more than 20%. I got the computer (finally, I'm not sure what I do that makes it not want to work, it might be the sequence of connecting cables) to talk to the car, found a load of stored fault codes, cleared all those. It was showing AAM and DAS faults per the writeups but I cleared them and they did not reappear when I tried to start the car. Seems like the nannies are talking anyway and recognizing the key codes or something. Got the (one) key fob to talk to the car too and open/close locks, etc. so that was interesting. It was a test buried in the menus somewhere, I went through it and lo, things started locking and unlocking, hallelujah. Somehow I think that thing is needed to make the car run right. I have 2 plain keys with it too but the plain keys are maybe valet keys and won't let it run fully? I don't know but I guess they will start it when it decides to start. The key fob key is broken, came loose from the hinge bit, will epoxy it back in there, but I have it on the ring with the others so maybe it is talking to the nannies. He has the keys but it throws this “start error” message and won’t crank. So we discuss the deal. I offer to split the yard fee but he is really pained. Very emotional. He’s leaving town Thursday to go to PA to take care of his senile granny. So I offer 350 and he says he’d really like 400. So I cave in, go pay the yard, and load it up. So $675 in it, whatever is wrong it seems like a pretty good deal. I’ll go put the computer on it later and see what that says. Oh and he doesn’t have the title but promised about a dozen times he’d get right on it to get a replacement. So we’ll see about that. Other than the drama it was a good day! What fun... We have the same issue in AZ which is now a "Constitutional Carry State"... but offers CWP permits so you can go to other states that are part of the Reciprocal agreements Caution: Not all CWP states recognize all other CWP states... Know the law for where you are traveling to... first... Or... know a lawyer and a bail bondsman. It is a very tough paint. Linear polyurethane are like that. The polyisocyanate stuff indices asthma over time. That's the toxic part. You will never mistake the smell for any other paint. Like all paints there is a learning curve. A rolled and tipped finish can be indistinguishable from sprayed if done correctly. I read about it on a boating forum yesterday, apparently you can brush or roller it, but won't get the same finish that you do spraying it. You still need to put on your hazmat suit with positive ventilation, etc. as the stuff can kill you from either breathing it or skin contact. I do the work, the A/IA "supervises" and does the inspection. It's called an "owner assisted annual". I found a NOS replacement upper cowling nose stamping at a really good price and decided that this was the year to replace the cracked and patched over original part. That led to fabricating a new oil access door on the side of the cowling as well. Then I found that the carb heat airbox was cracked - which the IA missed in his inspection. That led to sourcing used but serviceable parts and re-building the airbox. The oil sump had started leaking, enough that I was smelling burning oil from it dripping on the exhaust, so that resulted in pulling the engine to get the sump (oil pan) off, a new gasket, trying to flatten the mounting flange that is dimpled from having been over tightened some time, re-installing, etc. We also found some corrosion on the battery box mount and three of the mounting rivets, so that is being repaired. The joys of maintaining a 62 year old aircraft, even though it has less than 5000 total hours. No, I couldn't keep and fly it if I couldn't do the work myself. Luckily, my IA trusts my work and even asks me to help him sometimes with his own aircraft. I think I've got ours sorted too. Fixed a leak at the intercooler which cleared the CEL and some hard driving seems to have sorted it all. The only other thing I did was to look at the vacuum lines around the N75. There were a couple that are maybe questionable but seem to be okay for now. Our car has a stage 1 Malone tune which is totally worth it. 100-125hp wakes the car right up.
