My house is on high ground. After dealing with 4' of water in my basement in 
Chicago, I will never buy on low ground again. Somehow the furnace was OK but I 
had to replace water heater, washer, and dryer and throw out a lot of stuff 
that was stored down there.

Yep even if the engine doesn't ingest water, it can get into the tranny vent. 
Unless a vehicle is set up for fording deep water don't do it. And if there's a 
current, don't do it even then.

After torrential rains a couple weeks ago (something like 4.5" from 
Thu-Sun), I forgot and went down the logical road on the way home from a 
friend's house. When I saw the road closed sign, it was time to decide 
whether to turn around then for a brief detour, or go another 3 miles to 
the river for a possibly bigger detail if the flooding was real.


I went down the road, which I'd driven down a couple days before with a 
couple inches over it, and it was NOPE. As I started to turn around, I 
saw a tall, probably 4x4 Ford Superduty pickup approaching, and it 
looked like he was going for it. I parked and watched the show in the 
mirror. When the water hit front bumper, I knew I was right not to even 
try it.
When the water reached its peak about 4-5" below the headlights, I 
figured only an idiot would to that to a $60+k truck.

He made it, but it could not have been good for the truck.

Coming home just now a sudden torrential downpour and thunderstorm occurred. 
Heaviest rain I have seen in a long time. Flash flooding developed quickly. 
Turned off the highway on in road with 1.5 more miles to go. About half way 
down the road the ditches filled up quickly and we found ourselves with the 
road flooded. Water was not rolling across the road but basically straight down 
the road so we had to drive against the current. I put the GL suspension in the 
raised position and continued home without issue. If I was in one of the cars, 
I doubt I would have made it.

[MBZ] W116 rear window seal

With all the rain lately I've noticed the rear window seal is leaking in the 
300SD.

I see Autohauz has the URO seal. FCP Euro lists nothing. Any other options I 
should consider?

I was impressed the car looked as well cared for as it did.  The verbiage 
though cast some doubt as to how well in fettle it is.  Low miles is good for 
valuation were it in the five figure range.  Sadly, the R107 is not an 
investment unless it is in pristine condition from my few years of ownership.  
There are just too many out there and in all manner of disreputable condition, 
with few in top shape.

I was mildly surprised that I was able to fetch as much as I did for mine.  
Sold it to a middle aged gal who had admired them since Richard Gere drove one 
in a motion picture.  The R107 is not as reliable as a good OM powered car of 
the same vintage.  It does have a goodly 18 year production range, but probably 
appeals most to the mid-life crisis crowd than to younger people who would be 
looking at purchasing in the next decade.  By 2030 the petrol cars will be out 
of production (in theory), so maybe an early Priapus will be the must have 
collectable.

The issue is that some websites just never load properly.  I'm not geek
enough to explain it, but I suspect that newer browsers like Chrome and
Edge can do more tricks and tips, and some websites are written to use
those features, and they are not written to be "backward compatible" to
also work with the older browsers.

Some of these are online retail sites, some are social sites, some are news
sites.  Not very many, but happening more and more often.

Yes. Not a big fan of the yellow personally, but much prefer the body styling 
of that compared to the Crossfire. I guess the Crossfires are cheaper though, 
for what is essentially the same car.

Like when Toyota made the Pontiac Vibe, essentially the same car as their 
Matrix, but the resale value on the Vibe was lower.
