The same sort of issues I had when I did a jetted tub install in a 90 year old 
house.  It had the original tub on the main floor which was good for small 
kids, but cramped for me.  I thought a jetted tub to make two bathrooms in the 
house would have seen more usage.  Turned out the shower got daily use, the tub 
portion got regular car carpet cleanings, and I got around one bath each year.  
Figured I would not be using a big tub much more than that going forward.  Hard 
to rig them up for gerontologic use, since showers work better for washing 
anyway.  Also reduces the need for large or many water heaters.

Those white wheels used to command large sums on the Bay of Fleas back in the 
day.  Even a cracked one would fetch me a few hundred bux.  The hunt for a near 
perfect steering wheel for Gump saw many PnP collecting days.  That vintage 
vehicle is not in yards, must be getting scarce enough to make into classic 
cars.  I suspect the white bakelite wheels were being installed in w111

IMHO, regular sized shower/tub is OK in one bathroom,
showers in any others.  For soaking/sozzling, an outdoor
hot tub.  Preferably under the stars.  If it's raining, use a
hat if it bothers you.

The lighted vanity was something my ex-girlfriend used.
It was always at least 1-2 hours at a sitting.  Very Hollywood
oriented, if you know what I mean.  She was older than I.
I've never seen anybody else use one, and that includes
both of my grandmothers.

First piece of furniture my parents bought was a combination
AM/FM/LW/SW radio, stereo phonograph, and liquor cabinet.
Lighted, glass front and shelves, plush lining.  Height of late
50's decor.  Also something that's not much in fashion these days.

[MBZ] OT - Master bathtub

I am taking a very slow train to learning residential architecture the 
autodidact way.  This is part of the plan to be able to design/build our 
retirement abode.

I have been looking over/researching home plans, homes currently for sale 
nationwide, and other means of idea gathering.  What strikes me is that at a 
certain market level, the massive master bathtub shows up.  Intrusively in most 
cases, taking up large portions of the space, as if these things should be the 
center of attention.  I am old school and a bathtub has something a home 
needed, but was not a form of trophy to be put on display, nor was it used 
regularly, unless it were to drown children, or at least wash them.  Showers 
were for real people.  This being said, I do enjoy the occasional deep soak 
with an engaging tome and tumbler of aged whiskey.

My inquiry of the group — does this position of prominence in a bathroom need 
to be followed?  If you have said trophy tub in your home, does it get used 
with such regularity that it continues to earn it’s place of prominence? 

I am thinking were I to be required to have a tub installed, that it would be 
tucked out of the way so that other things could profit more from the space 
thus vacated.

 I am also confused as to just how much usage the sit down vanity space for 
enhancement of the female occupant takes place.  I see them abundantly in more

Yeah these were available for awhile then gone now back again.   I recall those 
other lights, I have one similar I bought a few years ago and use it too. It 
has held up well.

Has some rust, interior doesn't look all that bad IMO, the wood is shot and a 
crack on the dash but it's not as bad as I imagined "needs TLC" to imply.

Also looks like the wipers don't park properly.

I reached out to the guy and he’s up north somewhere until Monday. I leave 
tomorrow for Houston for my next round of doctors visits and I get back on 
Tuesday. I’ll probably go look at it Tuesday with cash in my pocket. If it 
checks out it would be breathalyzer boys ride. If he proves not to be able to 
get it started even once, it will be a nice standby unit in accordance with my 
one more vehicle than drivers rule (which I am violating at this time).

Speakinawhich, the BAS/ABS light that came on during my trip a coupla 
weeks ago went out on the 05ML500, maybe the brake light switch or 
connection is wonky, in any case it heals itself.  It came on when I hit 
some rough pavement towing the trailer so maybe it just shook something 
loose.  I was gonna order a new one from FCPEuro, it's only like $5.50 
but I'm sure the postage is more than that.  Next time I order parts 
(and I just ordered rad hoses for the 124 the other day and forgot to 
add this part in, bah) I will get one.  I need to feel around up in 
there too, I did that the other day but i think I need to take off the 
kick panel under the dash to see it.


But yeah, the 163s are decent rides, this one looks nice, and are 
relatively easy to keep sorted.

The last of the first gen model, but not a bad one. Pretty basic as far as 
options, but that’s not a bad thing. Bun warmers! Nice that they’ve done engine 
mounts, as that’s a pig of a job they all need by this time.

I would offer $500 to haul it off, then see if you can jumper the 
starter relay if the key will turn and the lights will come on the 
dash.  If the lights don't come on then it might be the DAS ring (find 
one at the knacker) or the AAM (all activity module?) which enables 
start, those are a bit trickier to sort out.  Or maybe the key battery 
has gone bad, although the "mickey mouse" regular key should work if the 
DAS/AAM are working.  there are some diagnostic procedures to go through 
for that problem.  Sometimes even a weak battery can cause the mayhem.


I spent hours chasing a similar problem in the $675ML500, turned out it 
was the actual ignition switch, a $25 part not hard to change.


You would need the fancy computer to get this sorted but it is doable; 
hence, a cheap offer as you don't actually know what the issues are and 
what it would cost to turn it into other than a brick at this point.


As for the cats, if you don't need them get a muffler shop to weld in 
some pipe and call it good, although the ECU might not be happy and you 
might need to do some fooling of the O2 sensor nanny.  If you can get 
the car running, you can buy aftermarket cats too, might be worth it if 
the car is nice enough and you want to keep it and don't mind putting 
the money into it.


Can't tell what it actually is?  320?  Whatever it looks fairly nice 
even though realtor spec.

Like he said, the original motor went bad.  At least it's not a Chevy 350!
Better than average job on the dashboard instrumentation; better than
what was done for that Mazcedes I bought.  (Flat plate, with gauges
screwed to it.  Very cheesy looking.)

Late-model taillights, that's all.  Wheel does look wrong, I'd expect black.
I'm guessing parked on dirt in the barn, the rust on the headliner tells me
