Yah I thought that until a black walnut fell in my sister's yard and I split it with my Dad some years back. I thought I was doing pretty well; he was setting the pieces on a stump and I was swinging the axe around like a clock hand. Then I hit a tough one and got it stuck. He said "Let me try." I forgot he had a summer job driving rail spikes when he was a kid; his grampa Carl homesteaded on a piece of railroad checkerboard, so the tracks cross the section road just off the end of the driveway at the end of the pasture of the home farm. Anyway he used some crazy technique where he raised his arms and the axe straight up in front of him way over his head like a lightning rod, then brought it down bending fully over at the waist with a straight line from his belly button out to the head of the axe and the axe head trailing enough behind to get some whip action on it. Sagged down at the knees a bit at the same time. The log just exploded in all directions. For that split second it was like watching one of those Thor movies. Re: [MBZ] Myna S123
Nah I have an 87 td with a myna 606 and compound turbos that has been a driveway queen for too long, but is under some pressure now that the e420 bit the dust. The 85 td is stock. 88 560 sel is my driver for now; Kids arrive to school in style (except when the accessory belt starts screaming, which it does whenever ambient is below 55 deg or I drive through a puddle, but at least they can smoke cigars and turn their seat heaters on and recline the rear seat and put the armrest down while they snarf on goldfush or apples or whatever. Black on black leather with staggered ronal penta knockoffs. I was behind a bus on Friday that collided headon with a lincoln. So I stopped while the road got blocked off etc to check on the driver of the car and provide an eyewitness account. Anyway all the cops and towtruck drivers love the w126. Also the valet guys at the Beverly Hills Hotel loved it when we rocked up there for a wedding last spring. It shines like a jewel. Just got the new stereo sorted. That green valtonen s123 was a real artwork. It grenaded at about 4bar boost as I recall; it was supercharged for sure and maybe twincharged. You need to beef up the rods and lower the compression to run that much boost on any of these merc diesels because they all run 21:1 or similar stock, except the really old NA 4 bangers which were 19:1 I think. Anyway 15x21 is a lot less than 45 or 60x21. And that is before you mess with timing. Bolt would have to be the same size as it’s specific to the tensioner. [MBZ] 606 tensioner bolt hole stripped
On this 606 of my dads, we knew the tensioner threads were partially stripped out. It was previously “fixed” with jb weld or lock tight but was a little cockeyed. A while back I decided to replace the tensioner and try and “fix” it better. Today I was replacing the aux coolant pump and noticed it has gotten much worse and appears to be ready to come out at any moment. I need to fix this properly. Im assuming the best approach is to drill it out and use a timesert or something similar? Anybody know what size it is? Anybody got any better ideas? I don’t think I should drive it up to Okie acres to work on it will probably trailer it and need to get this done asap. [MBZ] because, again the catalytic converter is busted, fumes escape into the cab 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 320 Sedan 4D, $2, 500
This could be a good deal *Mechanic special* Car currently will not pass emissions. The catalytic converter needs to be replaced or welded back together. Believe that is the cause for check engine light. Also has an issue with a blower control that drains the battery after 16-18 hours. I currently plug it into a trickle charger and it does fine. It’s a daily driver (with the windows down, because, again the catalytic converter is busted, fumes escape into the cab), brakes are in good condition and safe. Has continental tires with plenty of tread. Great chance to flip if you’re a mechanic that can troubleshoot low voltage and weld a catalytic converter/exhaust back together. Do not recommend driving without the windows down because - AGAIN - fumes get into the cabin. Title is in hand.
