Keep in mind that some early W123s didn’t have tachs - at least my 1979 300TD didn’t - it had a clock. I don’t recall what the cutoff or models affected were, but I do recall my 300TD having a clock because I remember replacing the caps in it to restore it to working condition. The tach on my 1985 300SD didn't work and I had to install a replacement clock/tach gauge. There is another component as well but I guess that hadn't gone bad. Nothing under the hood. I bought an assortment of the glass type auto fuses but they are both too fat and too long to fit into this inline fuse holder on this 116. I went out to a parts car and it has an inline fuse (this car has 2), pulled the fuse and it was a short glass fuse. It was still too fat to fit in the holder. On my 60k mile SD somebody cut this out and installed a regular blade type fuse holder in its place. I prefer not to do that. Any ideas?
