W220 which should be the same, I don’t recall pressure on the 211 but the X164
runs about the same as this: 6-10 bar depending on load and the central
reservoir holds between 13-16 bar

I guess using your little compressor could bump it up some if you can get to
100psi which is close to 7bar, maybe. Watching with the scanner would also be
instructive

The gauge in the fcpeuro picture has a full-scale reading of 160 psi.

In the discussion below Allan stated,

So, with a 100 psi compressor, he should be able to pressurize the strut
to what he had been seeing before.

I think isolating the strut and seeing if it leaks would be a good idea.

OMG that is the most beautiful blue in this or any other world. If all it
needs is seats and a dash - and if the drive train is sound - that would be
a fun rolling restoration project.

Also I noticed they sell a pressure tester.

That reminded me I also have an HF compression testing set somewhere, I wonder
if I could adapt that.

If I disconnect the air line from the top of the strut, connect pressure gauge
there and fill with compressed air from my garage air compressor, I should be
able to see if the strut is leaking down? That would isolate the leak to the
strut and not somewhere else in the system? Does that make sense or would that
not work for some reason?
