Do some more research. That is not what it is all about. With Common Core there is no time to teach. So it basically keeps folks from overfueling and burning up their engines pulling big hills? So keep your foot out of the throttle and watch the exhaust for smoke if your ALDA is deleted right? I believe the engine would run very rich (except at max boost) with the ALDA removed. Correct, at one altitude. The ADA was introduced as altitude compensation, and if you ever drove a non Altitude compensated Diesel over I80 in CO, then you appreciate the device. With the turbo models, the ADA became the ALDA. Part of the function of the ALDA is reducing fuel as the car gains altitude. Even at 4000 ft driving from Ka'u to Hilo on the island of Hawaii, an ADA or ALDA is appreciated. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Ahhh, only ones I have seen were quite small. If your stove is that big and you have to stoke it every hour then you need to learn how to burn it properly. With well seasoned wood you should be able to build up a bed of coals and keep a decent fire all night long with no creosote buildup to speak of. Re: [MBZ] Snowpocalypse 2014
Hi Curt, Yes we burn coal. I have had an Alaska stoker upstairs for years and an old Fisher Papa Bear wood stove downstairs. I love wood heat but recently stumbled on a deal on a Hitzer hopper stove. I took out the wood stove in favor of the Hitzer. I like it so much I sold my Alaska and bought another just like it for upstairs. Hitzer model 30-95, requires no electric to burn, crank out heat like no tomorrow if you want or will burn 24 hours on a 30 pound hopper on low. Shaker grates and a nice ash pan keep it neat. 2 of them are keeping a drafty 1800+ square foot farmhouse with almost no insulation and an open12 foot balloon frame tin roof at 70 when it was 0F out and burning about $12-15 worth of coal a day to do it. Not cheap, but the house is drafty, the windows suck and we were burning a crapload of wood and not staying as warm. We tend these twice a day and leave them be. I thought the Alaska was great until I got a real coal stove. The stoker is noisy and requires electricity. I only need that for the fan to circulate now so less on that bill by a little. The Hitzer is Amish made and I have spoken with the owner of the company who will get on the phone and answer any questions. They will also sell parts direct at a very good price. Check them out at hitzer.com Mike On Feb 14, 2014 9:23 PM, Curt Raymond curtlud...@yahoo.com wrote: You burn coal? Biggest difference is road surface. Southern roads are smoother and ice up like a skating rink. Mike On Jan 30, 2014 3:53 PM, Dieselhead 126die...@gmail.com wrote: A couple of differences between snow in the South and in the North are that it's often been warm prior to the snow in the South - the first ¼ of snow melts on contact with the road then freezes to ice while the rest of the snow covers it. This happens almost every time. Makes driving tricky. The other issue is the size of the population area that is reporting the gridlock, shutdowns, etc. the smaller towns/cities don't have much of an issue with snow. It's the million plus cars trying to get home all at once that cause the problems. We often get rain turning to snow in the north. slush freezes with snow on top. That does not count for the inability of southerners to drive on snow. Do the southern cities really have that many more cars than say CHicago? I doubt there is much difference, or fewer cars. Biggest differences are ill equipped and ill trained road crews and supervision along with masses of drivers that don't know how to drive. However with the proliferation of 4wd cars and SUVs, the latter is pretty ubiquitous. In a one mile stretch along i-35 north of Des moines in every snow there is an average of 40 or so vehicles spun out in the ditch, and most are 4wd SUVs, with over half rolled. THat is just plain stupidity. Sometimes it is so bad that there is no place to slide off without hitting some other moron. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

On a similar note, years ago, Ford noticed they were having a lot of trouble with Ranger transmissions going bad. They had 2 plants building what were supposed to be identical assemblies. One in the US, one in Japan. They noticed the units from the US plant seemed to be the ones with the most failures. After much research they found the problem. When an employees in Japan was given a print and a part was supposed to be within a range of say .002-.005 he would strive to get as close to perfect as possible while the US worker would be happy as long as it was within spec. Re: [MBZ] Seating Beads on New Tires
Easy on the ether in a little tire like that. Just a quick shot works better than a big one. Get the bottom seated, spray, step back and light a piece of paper to toss at the gap on top. No need to hurry a lot, the starting fluid needs time to mix with the air and won't come out the bottom. Works almost every time. Mike On Dec 27, 2013 3:45 AM, Fmiser fmi...@gmail.com wrote: Scott wrote: I'm going nuts trying to seat the beads on a new set of tires on my lawn tractor. I tried a cargo strap around the tread but that doesn't even get it close. Any thoughts? Thanks. Warm the tire as much as you can - but don't let _her_ find your tires in the oven. Soap up the bead and seat good. Press fit the bead to one side. Use a _big_ cargo strap, or better a chain to apply squeeze forces. With the chain, use a pipe to twist the chain tight. It will take a lot of force to squeeze the tire bead out to the other seat. The tire mounting rigs use a blast of air to pop the tire open. You could make yourself one with an air tank and a 1-2 inch (2.5 - 5 cm) pipe and valve. Finally, there's the extreme method. Spray a couple second burst of starter fluid in the tire (best to get it inside the tire, not just on the rim. Also get it all around, not just in one spot), spray a fuse trail, light it, and at the moment the tire goes fooomph! apply as high a volume of air as you can through the valves stem. Best to have the core out to get higher flow. If Martha wouldn't replace it then it doesn't need done.lol I didn't catch the part about still sitting level. Sure does seem like a lot of work for it's old, it might go bad, new is better. The whole car is a collection of used parts, why pick out ones that aren't broken to upgrade to new? It'll be ok, make it drive nice and be safe and call it good. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is the motto around here. If the self-leveling system is working properly and not bottoming out under load or driving conditions, there is nothing that would indicate replacement of the major components. I would add that a number of people have successfully rebuilt leaky rear struts as well. I wonder about the amount of work going into a car of that age. He had been battling several health issues stemming from the return of prostate cancer from 10 years prior. He had not been corresponding via e-mail for about 8 months prior to his death. He fought a courageous battle and when the time came he made an equally courageous decision to end the fight on his own terms.A wonderful memorial service was held on September 29 here in Seattle with about 90 people attending. Most were long time PCA/PNWR members who contributed some great stories of Roger’s time in the Club. In honor of his 50-year service to PNWR, the Club is naming our annual Porsche Pusher Award for him. mao ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
[MBZ] Anyone near Madison, OH? Scammer problem.
Sent a money order out for a chip for my truck. Been weeks and I paid for Priority Shipping. He has admitted in texts that he lied about shipping it once already. Is anyone near enough to Madison, OH to go knock on his door and get my chip? Or my $60 back? His name is Dewayne Cantrell and after doing some searches it seems he has been up to the same crap for a while now.
