As the eclipse started, it was hit and miss with the clouds clearing. Right at the last 2-3 minutes to totality, heavy clouds started rolling in. Right at the time, nothing to see at all except a dark normal cloud evening. Within about 5 minutes after totality, clouds cleared and hardly a cloud in the sky.   Here are some pics for you.

[MBZ] Dorman v OEM

I’m going to replace the leaking coolant tank on my ML. The clowns at Autohaus AZ have them, an OEM MB for $188, but they won’t allow me to pick it up, it has to be shipped. $13 and 8-14 days. Dummy boo-boo heads.Several other places have the MB tanks, but shipping everywhere seems to be in the almost two week window and I will need to be able to use this before then. Of course the three stealers in Phoenix have them (from Cali in two days), two places charging $248, one knucklehead charging $368. Charlatans. MB Laredo has one at a good price, but est. delivery April 1.  Mr. Flaparoonie has a Dorman Coolant Recovery Tank for $81. Does anyone have any experience with this Dorman brand? I typically balk at aftermarket anything when it come to the cooling system out here in hell. What do y’all think? And North Scottsdale MB just returned my call saying they have one I can come fetch for $329. “I can’t believe they are charging this much for a part on an old car. You can’t see it in the picture but that connector is fitted with a cover/plug protecting it from road schumtz. That’s what made me think it’s something that may or may not get utilized. These birthdays just keep coming at you like a drunk guy running down a hill.  So far I’ve celebrated by doing  a tough CrossFit workout, getting my taxes done, and spraying the new weeds that snuck in with the new stones the landlord had delivered and spread out post sewer line replacement.  MB content….later I will take the golf cart out for a spin to exercise the batteries and I will swing by what will someday be my W116 and see if she has it out from under its cover. That was mine exactly, minus the clear plastic seat covers. AM tube radio, vacuum wipers, yes it was spartan but ran like mad. A true “stripper.” 170 CI inline six, three on the tree. You can’t get much more analog than that car.
