It is a deal, but you have to deliver the Bill and the Green Benz in person.

We are going tonight. I'm sure we could find something not to like, and
the bill would be $250, and I'll throw in the green benz how's that for
a plan?

Personally I'd love to. It is my unfortunate inability to do the
physical work on the car that puts the skids on that plan. It was rainy and
about 50 degrees last night so we didn't make the trip to Singletons to
enjoy the outdoor dinning, Will be headed there in a week or so when the
weather is warm once more.
Why were rents on Southside so high 10 years ago? Upscale apartments in
that area are about $1200/month today.

I guess Bay Club considers themselves the yuppiest of the yuppie rentals. It
was definitely nice and had a one car attached garage.

So you were upscale, even for then.
Don't you wish you could go back a few years and make some purchases that
didn't seem worthwile at the time .. like the land down on Scott Mill [just
past our house] and Mandarin Rd. In its developing days the minimum lot was
4 acres. That forced a lot of people to become millionairs when they sold
off the front lots and stayed on the river. Today a river lot adds a
minimum of $3 - 400K to the price. Lots of MB's, a Rolls or two coming up
that way [including a glittering - no other way to describe all the shiny
parts- mid 1950's model , and a new Austin Martin that drives by on a
regular basis. I can walk down the sidewalk and watch them go by ...

for $3000 and Bugatti's Typ 35's for $1750! Lots of similar prices for
equally invaluable vehicles like 300SL Gullwings and Roadsters, classic
Rolls, etc. - that bring 6 figures and ocassionally 7 figures for extra
special examples today.

Of course that was also the time we bought our 1st home for $18950 (new,

Sadly, I was making around $8000 per year at the time - so $3000 back then
was as far away as $300k is today!

Yeah - that is the part I left out. I could not have afforded stuff back
then either. Only guy I know who actually did that started buying land in
Broward County [Ft. Lauderdale area] before WWII. Everybody made fun of him
that he spent all of his $$ buying usless land. Ended up owning a good
chunk of Broward. When the GI's came home people quit making fun and
started saying 'Sir'. Oh, well...
