That's good news.  Every once in a while I hear about one that
slipped.  re the water damage - yep, I'm told it sometimes doesn't show
up for months or a year or more before the problem becomes obvious -
Of course if some nitwit will fire a weapon into a large crowd I
shouldn't be surprised when someone sells a damaged car as perfect.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And it's a used car, so no matter

Usually flood cars get a flood branded salvage title. Which is a rebuildable
title, but it should always carry a water/flood brand, even as a rebuilt
vehicle.
https://www.copart.com/lot/38900357
https://www.copart.com/lot/40371337

Either way, the Houston CoPart lot must be overflowing with them.
https://www.copart.com/lotSearchResults/?free=true=flood%20mercedes=1

It's also possible to get a parts only / scrap / nonrepairable flood title,
which hopefully the deepwater Houston/Harvey cars get.

Re: [MBZ] 08 320 BlueTec

2017-10-02 Thread Larry Turner via Mercedes

Thanks gang!
re Kaleb, - where do you find your cars?  I've been looking for a
while and this one is cheap compared to others I looked at.  This one is
supposed to be $1000+ below book value and this one is much lower priced
than most diesels I have found.   I am to the point I will start to
consider gas engined MBs.   I guess i don't look under the rocks like
you do ? ;-)

Thanks again,
LarryT

That's the model I bought 3 mts ago. Only problem I've had with was the
interface
between key and the BCM. Also had a Ox sender and the harness changed,
harness

was under a MB TSB. Total cost was under 350.
Getting 29.7 ~ 33.1 Hwy 24.5 ~ 27.2 mixed town hwy driving.

Which engine is to be preferred?

I recall someone on this list saying to avoid 2005 cars.

My '07 (75 kmi) is doing well, so far. 'Had it since May '16. BTW, the V-6
is so quiet, that SWMBO "sneaked" up behind me in yard coupla days ago, & I
didn't know she was there 'til I heard the door unlatch as she began to get
out. (I'm not hearing impaired.)
