Re: [MBZ] 13 and 15

2017-03-31 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
No. Not unless you completely rewire things. But that’s no different than any
other aftermarket radio you might try and install in the component type Becker
system. Nothing is a drop in replacement for the Becker systems with the
separate amp and tuner/head units.

What do they mean by "without harness"?
$50 seems a lot extra for a "harness".

did not have fuses, and I had runout of new ones anyway. In reading what

There are two missing fuses. Yep, the two that make everything that was
not working, work as they should.
Radio is in, it powers up and shows the four dashes. It will need to
visit the dealer to have them use the magic key to unlock it. I have not
found anything that would allow for the illumination wire or the
anti-theft. Maybe the dealer will know what is needed.

Re: [MBZ] 13 and 15

2017-03-31 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
I had one (TR7412UB-OR Continental Radio with USB and Bluetooth - 12 Volt -
Orange LED) that went south and has been returned to the seller (a place in
Germany) for a warranty replacement, but now I'm getting crickets from them
by email. I need to call them probably.

The radio is dirt simple and very easy to use, with simple on-off, knob for
volume control, and radio stations that can be programmed to the buttons.
Most aftermarket radios are so cluttered with tiny buttons and flashing
screens that the driver cannot both drive and operate the radio at the same
time. I find the bluetooth function to be the most useful, I connect my
smart phone via bluetooth and then I can answer calls through the radio and
there is a microphone included with the radio. There is a mic on the front
of the radio that can be used OK, and there is a separate mic that can be
connected to the back and then you have to route the wire around and up the
A-piller or whatever to a location you like.

There's an Ebay store that sells them, and here's a place in Michigan that
sells them for pretty good prices:

http://www.egauges.com/12-Volt-Radios-s/33233.htm

I made my own harness using the radio-side from the harness in a late model
124, and the car-side from a Crutchfield adapter that Dan offered here on
the list. Crutchfield would probably sell you both ends of the harness
adapter if you wanted to make it easy.

While waiting for that warranty replacement I bought this (Continental
CD7416UB_OR) which adds the CD player. Plan is to put the CD version radio
into SWMBO's car when my warranty replacement radio comes back, if ever.

About the only thing I know for you to do would be to look at the
two pages of the schematic covering the gauges for the 126. Look
at all the wires going to the gauges labeled as C151. That's the
round plug. On the other side of the wire from the C151 is the
number of the location in the plug. The colors of the wire are
next to the wire somewhere along the run of it.

are two missing fuses. Yep, the two that make everything that was not working,
work as they should.

dealer to have them use the magic key to unlock it. I have not found anything
that would allow for the illumination wire or the anti-theft. Maybe the dealer
will know what is needed.
