Re: [MBZ] 190D 2.2 Tranny Fluid Capacity

Thanks everyone! Especially for the reminder about the 3-4 qt initial
fill-up. Changing the tranny fluid is messy enough as it is don't
need any more mess on top of it!

It was so nice to have a drain plug... the SD doesn't and it sure makes
a difference!!!

John,

thought most MB's of the 70's-90's had a drain plug for the TC as well
as the tranny.

[MBZ] 190D 2.2 Tranny Fluid Capacity

2007-01-04 Thread John Robbins
I feel horrible asking this since it is definitely a RTFM thing but
I have no manual to read... so a quick question.

84 190D 2.2 Automatic

What is the transmission fluid capacity?I'm about to change the
filter, etc...

Thanks!
John

John - assuming you change all the fluid (including the converter), most M-B
auto trannys use just shy of 8 qts; I always make sure I have 8 qts on hand
when I change fluid and filter.

Drain the pan and the torque converter. 6.2 liters (6.55 qt). Fill in
3-4 qt, then run the engine and shift thru the gears (to fill the torque
converter) and then add the rest. Otherwise the pan may overflow.
