[MBZ] 1981 Mercedes 280 CE CABRIO!

I will just leave this here for my friend Dwight Giles.  ;)  A friend in 
Ireland sent me the link.  It has a 'petrol' engine, and an auto tranny 
but. I thought you might be interested to see it!  ;)  
It was done in the BMW Baur 'Top Cabriolet' style:  fixed windows and built-in 
roll bar.  The unusual design was in response to the movement back in those 
days to ban convertibles because they were considered 'unsafe in a rollover'.  
Hence the fixed windows and built-in roll bar in effect, a roll cage. In 
response to that 'ban' movement, American factory production of convertibles 
ceased altogether with the 1976 Cadillac ElDorado, and it did not resume until 
the crisis had passed (convertibles were never actually banned) about 6 or 7 
years later.Cars like the BMW Baur, and this Mercedes, are historical 
artifacts of that nearly forgotten period in automotive history.  

"1981 Mercedes 280 CEW. This is basically a 280CE with a SOFT TOP. They are 
very few about. This is the only on in Ireland, as far as I know. I have spent 
E 2,500, having it refurbished, including a complete re-spray, but does need a 
bit of tidying up inside.  It has now been re-registered, and is on ZV plates. 
It now has  NEW   N.C.T.  & Taxed until March 2016. It is fitted with 225/60X16 
Wheels. I would consider some other classic as part payment, W,H.U. The car can 
be viewed in Shannon, Co. Clare. PLEASE NO timewasters, Dreamers, Private No. 
or Txts., If you E Mail, leave a Phone No. & I will call you back, OTHERWISE I
