this reminds me about back in the 80s sometimewhen David E. Davis joined Car Driver as Editor he was given a similar car that had received many upgrades. Can't recall if it were a diesel or gas but is was _definitely _powered by /MB/.CD had the suspension lowered, installed AMG wheels (IIRC) and put in a $3000 or $4000 sound system. They also did heavy window tinting and some custom painting where i believe the lower area (below the waste Trim) was painted a darker color - possible brown below and a soft yellow above. I probably have the CD issue around if I ever get time to look for this article i will. I will scan and share it if I ever find it re the 300TD with a 383 crate engine -- don't know why they didn't just repair the MB engine - it would never have cost as much as a 383 crate = or perhaps they just wanted an American V8?
