Re: [MBZ] 1983 240D Bosch relay kit

Steve:

I did the upgrade two years ago. Install new glow plugs, throw away the
toaster wires (actually, I sold mine on eBay), wire per directions,
disregard anything involving putting in a new relay, and look forward to
winter.

Two years later, I'm still going strong with the 240D stock relay.

Has anyone replaced the stock relay and glow plugs with the aftermarket
Bosch set-up? I purchased a kit from Rusty but the instructions are
describing a series installation where my car has a parallel setup. I want
to know if this is an issue or just proceed according to the kit
instructions?

Thanks,

I purchased an after-glow kit for our 617.912 when we moved here to Los
Alamos (colder weather and higher altitude than Austin, TX) in 2002. As I
recall, it was a direct plug in, though I did have to purchase the 5th
glow plug separately.

It's simple electricity, so far as the plug wiring goes. I'd just
say follow the instructions. What you take out might not match what
they're talking about, but what you end up with should match.
