Seems like a seller who's in love with his car and isn't objective about what it's worth. Those types are hard to deal with, they get very offended if you make a realistic market price offer. M103 and M104 head gaskets start leaking oil out of the passenger side rear corner at about 100k miles. IIRC, some (most?, all?) M103 engines came with brass, not bronze valve guides. If he just changed the head gasket without having the head rebuilt, that's quite an oversight. It's not worth what he wants. Maybe $3,500. Maybe.
