[MBZ] 240D wheel question..
One of the items I need to take care of before I attempt to retrieve the '79 240D I've been looking at is a spare tire. There wasn't one in the trunk. This car has the wheels with the painted hubcaps (so cool looking) which I assume means steel wheels? I have a bundt cake wheel from my RIP 82 300D, does the W123 have the same issue with different length wheel bolts like the W124's do? ...Kevin 87 300TD 284k mi

Any chance the wheel bolts from my W124 alloys would work? No. I tried to use 124 bolts on my 115 once, no dice. The 124 bolts do go on the 201 just fine though. -- Jim

Pretty sure they use the same bolts used with 14 Bundt Cake alloys. 124 bolts work with the 15 alloy wheels used on '85+ 201s, BUT NOT on the 14 alloy wheels used on 1984 201s! Pretty sure they use the same bolts used with 14 Bundt Cake alloys. Interesting. Our mobile 201 is '86 and has the same appearance for its wheels as every other '86/87 car we have. The parts 201 is an '84, but it came with no wheels. (And only three places to put 'em! When I put later wheels on my '84s I had to use later bolts (40 mm threaded shank). I have 14 '84 wheels on my '85 now and MUST use '84 bolts (29.5 mm) or the longer bolts will tear up the emergency brake shoes - if they turn at all!
