If a door has a keyhole, then it should both lock and unlock via that door. If the OM601 engine is anything like my OM603, then you shouldn't have much deflection at all in your serpentine belt. I'd look to the tensioner pivot to see if it's sitting at an angle to the timing chain cover. [MBZ] A couple general questions about 190D
Two quickies regarding our 87 190D: Is the passenger door supposed to not be able to unlock from the outside? Nothing at all happens when key is turned. How much deflection should the serp. belt have? We had it replaced with the alternator and various tensioner equip. It seems, to me, looser than it should be.
