Re: [MBZ] AC Issues
Good going. But if life is any teacher then I have to say you will at some time more then likely be doing something similar again. Often wished the same, never worked. Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2013 19:58:00 -0400 From: Dan Penoff d...@penoff.com WE. HAVE. AC. Despite the roadblocks tossed up in this job, I finally got it together and working. I ended up repairing the broken wire on the original clutch coil, as the generic replacement would have required some minor machine work to duplicate a hole for a locating pin. Once I got the wires repaired I was able to reassemble everything without too much difficulty. I will say that tensioning the serpentine belt is a lot easier with the radiator out So all back together and blowing cold. Not ICE COLD, but cold. With the system working I can deal with charging if necessary. Gawd, what a horrible job! I don't want to have to do that again Dan ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] AC Issues
At least I know what to look for. I was able to secure the wires so they are well away from the moving parts, so I doubt the existing harness will be similarly affected. I would add that when I disassembled the clutch I found the remains of a very small tie wrap, which was broken. I suspect this failed and allowed the wires to move around and contact the pulley, wearing through the wires.
