Well?  OM means Oel Motor e.g. diesel.

Just drop in a drivetrain from a newer 300D, maybe 1987 vintage. 
A large turbo and an intercooler wouldn't hurt.

This has been talked about before, problem is that the originality is lost 
and hence the value of the machine will be reduced. However if it is a 
personal passion to have a 300dD then why not.
