Ken, I think he *likes* his head up there. Either that, or it's the reason why he's always so snappish, lol... I wouldn't be in a very good mood either if my head were in that environment 24x7... :-) -dm -- Date: Thu, 29 Sep 2005 19:04:37 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [MBZ] Mercedes Digest, Vol 4, Issue 232 Actually it's the families of the dead crispy people in the cars that really care. Actually Dave thats the smartest thing I've heard all day...I don't think half these people understand the frustration that many southern californians have with traffic...I recently moved close to my work, but before, i would spend on average around 3 hours a day sitting in traffic. My 2 years of college I went to Cal State Long Beach and lived in Riverside California...that 45 min really drove me insane... On 9/29/05, Dave M. And THAT, my frustrated friend, is one of several reasons why I couldn't wait to exit the People's Republik of KaliFORNia after spending nearly 8 years there. I don't miss it. Maybe someday you'll figure out that no, it's NOT worth living there for [insert reason here]. -dm On 9/29/05, Gabriel S. Re: [MBZ] Autobahn vs. USA
Nope. Not after you factor in ALL the costs of living... real estate or rent, car insurance, utility rates, DMV fees, sales tax, property tax, and a bunch of other stuff. A large chunk of that extra money you are making is going right back out the door, for the privilege of living with near dangerous blood pressure levels due to stress frustration. Like I said - I don't miss it. There's a lot more to life than money, and in about 30 or 40 years you might figure that out. (I'm only 31, so I guess I figured it out sooner than most.) Around here, when I lock my car after getting out of it, the locals look at me funny and comment You're not from around here, are you. That, my friend, is priceless. -dm == On 9/29/05, Gabriel S. In the interest of full disclosure, I have to admit that I was born and raised in LA. Spending the last 40+ years in the Midwest has helped my return to normalcy. I'm still not there yet. -Dave Walton On 9/29/05, Gabriel S. Re: [MBZ] Autobahn vs. USA
On the contrary, I stayed with the same company and transferred my job to a more sedate area. No change in pay. Effectively it was like getting a healthy raise, while improving my standard of living. But hey, knock yourself out down there. Don't forget the oil the bearings on the center shaft of that hamster wheel you're locked inside. :p On 9/29/05, Gabriel S. IIRC, Dave M lives in Idaho (Boise?). My only firsthand experience with ID is from three short trips, two of which were to Boise. Boise is very civilized - there are more brew pubs and restaurants per capita than anyplace else in the USA. Way to go, Dave M. More pubs than Wisconsin!? That's unpossible! Just ask Lewis Black, he'll tell you. Wisconsin gets federal subsidy to drink!
