quite well as a clear coat over the Würth wheel paint.

Has anyone tried to color match the paint on a rim?  I've got a couple
small blemishes on a nearly perfect rim that I'd like to fix.

PainScratch.com sells Silver Metallic (Wheel) G8081 which they say is
correct for all 1987 models.

None of them.

Interior color code can be extracted from the VIN, and the “real” EPC can give 
you possibilities based on the exterior color code.

For example, the 1994 S420 with a Black Metallic exterior has three different 
possible trim colors and three possible interior colors.

You don't need spacers, the offset for these 126/107 wheels
is the same as for 115/123.  You do need the matching bolts,
though.

Picky, picky!  Looks great to me.

I've never seen a blue or green 124 coupe---only red, black, white,
and Smoke Silver.  Couple of green cabrios, though.  (But then, I
don't routinely search CL for them: makes me too sad.)

[MBZ] 123 interior color question...

On the way home, I was looking at the dash and console and thinking  
that maybe it is a dark brown and not black...


How dark is the dark brown, and is there an easy definitive way to  
tell which it is?

The datacard from startekinfo shows paint/equipment as:
Code 1: 172
Codes 2-4 blank
Code 5: 54
Equipment: 154

The seats, carpet, visors and headliner are all a tan-ish shade, but  
the dash and center console are indeterminately brown/black.

I have a dash mat that I have had for several years and haven't used it, since 
it is light brown. Does anyone know of something simple that I can use to dye 
it black. I have looked for the dye I used to make Tyedye tshirts with though 
cannot find it anymore.

RIT dye?  Fabric store?

Rather than a rug of any sort I'd try the molded plastic Coverlays.
Two of them on our SL's and they look great.

[MBZ] M-B Color Palette

Has anyone else noticed the color palettes of cars have gotten very drab
in the past 20 years or so.

 

I was just looking at the 2009 M-B palette for the 550CLS-like I can
afford one. I thought my monitor had gone monotone. They have four
greys, two blacks, two whites, one silver, one redish, one blueish, and
one greenish.

 

Not that other manufacturers are any better. All I see on the road are
greys, browns, blacks, and whites (with a few off hue reds mixed in). 

 

I remember cars in the 50s having about 30-40 colors-not counting the
custom colors you could get by special order.

It actually looks like he took the pictures with a camera with a limited
number of colors (even less than 256!).

I suspect the picture is the result of re-sizing and manipulation in a
picture editor, not the camera.
