The V10 is an _outstanding_ choice for a truck that is not going to be
driven very much. Powerful, quiet, and durable. They have a decent
repair reputation. Unloaded I seem to get 11-12mpg, although one long
highway trip turned in 15mpg. I kept the speeds down and the pedal up
for that one, it was a bit of an experiment. Towing, though, expect the
single digits, or so I hear...
I had a coworker with an older Chevy 2wd pickup. He towed a boat, and was
getting 10mpg on a good day. He considered the truck severely underpowered.
I told him to swap for one of the snowbird 2wd V10's, in the sub-$2000
territory,
and to make sure his trailer hitch was stout and securely fastened. (Lest he
rip
it loose from the boat.) He'd get the same mileage, with no lack of power.
Likely he could sell the more vintage (70's?) truck for enough to make the
trade.
