Re: [MBZ] DONKED -- An Edumacashun

2007-05-01 Thread Kevin Kraly

I could drive out to Portland and fly back with my ill gotten gains.

Not so fast hahahahaha! I'm looking for the RIGHT ONE, very little to no
rust, good to excellent interior, strong engine, all in all, a nice,
presentable driver. I've got nothin' but time to find it, and the longer I
wait, the more money I can save up. It will most likely have to be a fly
and drive trip since they're hard to find at reasonable prices around here.

What's an example of an UNreasonable Portland OR price for a 1983 300TD with
some rust and 280 K miles?

2007-04-30 Thread Zoltan Finks

Thanks, teach. I have seen some and am amazed that they're legal. Much as I
hate to say anything positive about the criminals and wannabe criminals that
do this sort of thing, I agree that it's visually interesting. Reminds me of
a Stomper toy - remember those?

Disclaimer: Yes, I realize that as a punk kid who jacked up the rear end
of his car with leaf spring shackles, and cruised around acting tough, I
might have been considered a criminal wannabe by some too. But the whole
pimp/gangsta vibe has much more to do with actual violence against innocent
people.

I wonder if these guys are confused as to why they can't take off quite as
quickly as before they so dramatically lowered, numerically, their final
drive ratio.

DONK magazine has appeared on the stands in 7-11 up here in Toronto.
I've yet to see any in the streets, though up here it makes sense -
ground clearance for the snow.

On that note, I took my summer tires in to get swapped at the local
tire change place and the manager sold me a set of used original Benz
rims that were in better condition than my own. Now I've finally got a
summer and winter set of rims! Sweet.

You didn't end up selling it! Great move! Either a W123 or W124 300TD
Turbo Diesel will be my next Mercedes. W124 300TD's are going for at least
8K and for as much as 11K here in Portland, OR. I've even seen a few W123
'TD's for nearly that much. In top condition, my SD could fetch $5K if I
ever was stupid enough to sell it. That car will still be around since it
is quite nice, and if I actually put $3500 to have $5K invested in the car,
it would be like new! It's still old enough to be vintage and easily
repaired, and it's cushy enough and nice enough that Wifey likes it as much
as I do.
