Andrew, Have you found a turbo yet? I may have a spare that I can part with from a 300D, 123 sedan 82-85. Pulled from an engine that had a bad connecting rod bearing. Andrew, Engine was in an 82. I didn't see it this morning and didn't have time to dig. Will check again when I get back home Thursday. Maybe, but I have to admit that I wonder why you have 2 MB wagons. Surely one would be sufficient for your needs. Given that the 85 seems to be a problem, it might be much easier for you if you swapped it for something that was more common and less trouble to source pieces for. Doesn't fit or isn't factory? Those aren't the same thing.
