Re: [MBZ] Diesel bulletproofness OT: Gun surpris

2007-11-25 Thread LarryT
I'm sure everyone is familiar with the DEA (?) agent giving a
demonstration for a group of school children and just after saying I'm the
only one in this room qualified to handle this gun. he promptly shot
himself in the foot. He hesitated for a moment before contining his speech.

Safety can never leave the front of the brain. When working with a tool
that kills in an instant requires nothing less. but it must be remembered
that guns in the hands of those legally qualified to have them have saved
many more lives that they have taken. It doesn't make the news because
it's not newsey to talk about a crime that didn't happen even though they
are used 1 million to 3 million times a year to stop or prevent a crime -
depending on who is doing the research.

When operating dangerous equipment, sometimes your first mistake is your
 last.
A police weapons instructor (and gun shop employee) shot himself in the
 head
this fall while demonstrating a mini-gun. Seems he forgot that turning the
barrels makes it go bang. Was investigating some trouble with the machine,
stood in front of it, grabbed the barrels and twisted.

Not that I know of but if you email me the serial I'll run it by the old man.
He's got all sorts of books that list that sort of stuff.

Is there a site where you can date a Winchester from the serial
number? My Model 94 is just under 2 million, but I think it was
purchased before '64.

 rifle at best.

Yep, DEA agent Lee Paige. Tough guy, but I'd rather have smart. I can't believe
he continued on as if nothing happened, but he couldn't completely disguise the
limp. The guy who videotaped it loaned the tape to the DEA. They cut out the
important part and gave the rest back to him. After Lee's superiors helped him
cover up the embarrassing act, it found its way onto the internet.
He sued the DEA for breach of privacy and public humiliation. He also claimed
that somebody in the DEA must have released the tape and it ruined his
undercover career. (since when do DEA agents give speeches to schoolkids if
their identity must be kept secret?)

mine is all busted up from use. paid $29 for it. shoots as straight as any
rifle i've ever owned and i shoot a lot of crap in it (like the primer only
mexican stuff). set up to be a little practice AK, but with a cute little
mauser bolt.

even a dead mint one would probably be under 100 bucks if you could find
one.

the ruger .22 is far too fancy to be a 123 diesel. the 240D is more
  along
the lines of my bolt action romanian training rifle .22, as good a gun
  as
you will ever find for under 50 bucks.
