Re: [MBZ] EPA fuel economy "adjustments"

2009-08-04 Thread LarryT
That's interesting. there's a range of MPG based on 6 owner's vehicles
which is from a low of 23 to a hi of 28 with an avg of 25.5 yet the New MPG
is shown as 19 city, 23 Hwy with a combined of 21 - the old was 22 - 25 -
23 respectively.

Why would they put more confidence in their test (which they say are more
reaistic) rather than real world owners experience? Smells fishy to me -
even if only comparing the new govt #s to the old govt #s. I find it hard
to believe the 300SD experienced such poor mpg as calcuated by the US Gov!

Oh this explains it - this is the explaination for the difference in mpg's

<<"EPA has changed the way it estimates MPG.
Starting in model year 2008, estimates reflect the effects of
Faster Speeds & Acceleration
Air Conditioner Use
Colder Outside Temperatures ">>

Hmmm colder outside temps - does that mean they've given up on global
warming? ;-)

This is hilarious -

HR 45 would require any person owning a firearm to obtain a federal
firearms license. To apply for this license, you must provide a
thumb-print & medical records. Ask your Reps to Vote Against HR45!

I have the 2.88 rear end. Now that my job is a 40minute each way commute
compared to the previous 12minute I might put in a 2.47 sometime next year.

??? I got 29MPG last week!

Seriously, in the city with a lead foot I would average 23mpg. Of
course I don't use AC but 23mpg hwy seems low.

The test cycle for the 2008 models was so different that they
knocked 10% off all the old cars to keep the new ones from looking bad.
