Re: [MBZ] Fuel economy report
OK - it's hard for me to beleive as well. Here's what I did -- new Kuhmo tires - the "right "size, aired up to 2Lb. over spec., drove the speed limit (shocking - but I did it this time), and used the GPS for an odometer, since the one in the car doesn't work. Maybe the GPS isn't right? Streets and Trips shows 914 miles for the trip, the GPS recorded 455 miles for the first half of it, including finding out that our exit was closed, and getting lost trying to find the motel. The extra 97 miles were local exploring and a trip to work when we got back before filling it the last time. So, the GPS distance seems reasonable. The previous trip where I measured mileage resulted in 33 mpg - that was to Albuquerque with 3 and bags instead of 2 on this trip. Driving hundreds of miles without a cold start sure helps the mileage. That's how my '78 300cd was able to get 28MPG on the highway coming back to Oregon from Southern Kalifornia. It never got mileage that good ever again. That was before I learned how to adjust valves, and I didn't own it long enough. My W116 got 26-28mpg driving home from Florida when I bought it, according to the odo on my friend's Toyota. (my odo had slipping gear syndrome) We filled up at the same time, even though the SD had lots of fuel left when the Corolla had to stop for gas. A PO had put P225 x 80 x 14 tires on it, so it was geared a bit higher than normal. I rarely drove over 80 on that trip, probably averaged low to mid 70's. Driving hundreds of miles without a cold start sure helps the mileage. Mine might do 30mpg if I drove 60mph on those big tires for 500 miles nonstop. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Fuel economy report
Yup. I saw 37 mpg at the first fuel stop, and figured I hadn't filled the tank, but it kept it the whole trip. On Jan 8, 2008 7:49 AM, LarryT <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > WOW! 37.4 mpg is very good! That's more what I would expect from a 2.5L in good shape! I almost wish I'd bought one instead of another 3.0L. Re: [MBZ] Fuel economy report
Depends on fuel and how you drive. I was getting 33-36mpg depending on how long I stayed on the highway. Did a cross country at 75-90mph for those results. Around town it gets down to 25mpg on B20. What fuel mileage does the '95 300D with the 606 get? THere's a nice looking one on eBay right now - in Philly that isn't going for all that much - yet. [MBZ] Fuel economy report
The '90 300D 2.5 got 37.4 mpg on the 1007 mile round trip to Houston with local running around there and a trip to work today. The 300SDL got 25 MPG on the trip down (it's there for the duration of the internship). That's approximately 4 gallons per 100 miles for the 603 and 3gallons per 100 miles for the 602. I'm liking the 300D 2.5 better all the time. Might have to sell the other three and find another 300D 2.5. -- OK Don, KD5NRO Norman, OK "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics." -Benjamin Disraeli and/or Mark Twain '90 300D, '87 300SDL, '81 240D, '78 450SLC, '97 Ply Grand Voyager ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
