I was thinking that Prilosec and Nexium were take before a meal, you pick the
meal. I took Nexium morning and evening when I was on 2 a day. Now I take
Prilosec OTC 1/2 hour before supper as needed, usually go through about a 42
pack a year.

I asked my doc (the one I pay) why at bedtime and he said well that is
when most people have the symptoms, so better to take it before symptoms
appear at night.  Makes sense.

I remember about Nexium now, there had been some recent studies that
show it interferes with calcium uptake (and the calcium interferes with
synthroid uptake so I take those at night too and the synthroid in the
morning) so that is why I changed the med. You should probably take a
calcium tablet, or I guess the antacids are about the same thing, and a
vitamin D tab every day as well to help with your calcium as you get
older.  Simple stuff, can't hurt anything.

It's funny, as I rarely have any kind of acid reflux issues, but in the past
year or so I've found that pizza sauce really sets me off if I have pizza for
dinner. About 1-2 AM I'll wake up in full on acid in the throat/mouth yuck.

We now order pizza with either light or no sauce.

Ramitidine pill at bedtime to help the night reflux. (My 3 docs

Pepsi uses artificial sweeteners which, in me, produce an almost instant
throbbing headache of the near migraine quality.. I won't touch it.

All "Diet cola" regardless of brand rely on the use of artificial sweetener
and loads of it. The health side effects of ingesting artificial sweetener
are manifold, by every report I read.. bad bad ju ju... poison stuff that
throws the body way off balance..

As my Grandmother [mother of 12 children] always said.. "You are what you
eat".
Read the labels on the stuff being sold as food these days and ask .. "Do I
want to be this?"

Seems like this group comprises all the major ailments, which offers me
hope for an answer to the question I am about to pose.

Several years back I developed a gastrointestinal reflux issue (GERD) that
only manifests itself when I am asleep. I typically awake thirsty around
4 AM because my mouth dries out (mouth breather), and when I take a sip of
water that immediately detonates the GERD depth charger. I get this queasy
feeling that keeps me from going back to sleep.

I've also tried a Tums at bed time, with very limited success, as well as
ginger pills and Nexium-and Prevacid type drugs. The latter only makes
things worse. Oddly, I never have any symptoms when awake during the day,
and the symptoms are almost exclusively triggered when I take that 4AM sip
of water. Ideally, I wuld like to take a pill at bedtime to get me through
this nasty ritual.

Anyone else BTDT?

A jar of artisanal jalapeno pepper jelly to whoever solves this
problem for

The first thing I would do would be to make an appt with a gastroenterologist
since the symptoms seem strange. A heliobacter pylori infection, which can
cause gerd, can also cause stomach cancer.

https://www.google.com/search?client=opera=bacterium+that+causes+gerd=opera=UTF-8=UTF-8

If the doctor prescribed Nexium or Prevacid or similar drugs, I would ask for a
ranitidine 150 mg prescription since it doesn't have the most serious side
effects of the others.

That's what I would do. I'm not suggesting that you do the same, however, since
"practicing medicine without a license" could cost me my lab rat licence and I
might need it again if the government guts social security any more than they
have already by eliminating COLA.
Good luck,
Gerry

Organic apple cider, 2 tea spoons
Baking soda, 1/2 tea spoon
8 oz water.

Put baking soda in glass, add Organic apple cider, it will "fizz", while it
is doing that, add the water, stir well ,, add ice cubes to chill gives a
nice crisp touch to the mixture... sip ...

Let me know how it works for you.

Stay away from pharma. Try a glass of water with a splash of
apple-cider vinegar, i.e. Braggs vinegar with mothers, mostly water as
strong as you can swallow? Drink a cup of unflavored whole milk
kefir? Eat a serving of unflavored whole milk yogurt, i.e. Fage
Total. Try garlic oil pills prior to bed - about 10, so you burp
garlic - not de-odorized but NowFoods 1500mg. Maybe these don't apply
to GERD but these are my routines for digestion.

[MBZ] GERD for dummies

2017-10-13 Thread Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes

A jar of artisanal jalapeno pepper jelly to whoever solves this problem for
me.
