Yeah roughly the same size as a W123, nearly identical in length and width but 
the W110 had a shorter wheelbase compared to a W123 Saloon. The W110 roof was a 
bit higher and more rounded I think, resulting in more interior headroom. Great 
visibility too.

I don't have a handle on how big those cars are. Are they about the same size 
as a 123?

I feel like the 1.9l VW TDI is an excellent modern diesel to transplant. Its 
smaller, lighter, and with minor mods more powerful than a stock 617 turbo.

They also start a heck of a lot better when cold...

there should be room; they had straight-six engines in W110s.
