Another case of the MBA attitude of "attract new customers whatever the cost"
while ignoring existing customers. The amount of money companies waste on
marketing astounds me, State Farm is a good example, I see ads for them every

Probably not. I’m going to call them tomorrow or or Monday to inquire but not
raise a big stink yet. I then need to file a roof claim they can pay for before
I dump them.

2021-07-15 Thread Don Snook via Mercedes
I haven't been on here in a long time. Sorry about that. I have been swamped.
I happened to see this email subject and wanted to pile on. -- Not really.

I have been a USAA member since I was born. My Dad enrolled me. Years ago, I
had USAA Credit Card, Mortgage, Homeowners Insurance, Savings, and car
insurance. But, several years ago I had a friend become an agent with
Farmer's. I got a quote from them and USAA was A LOT higher. I had Farmer's
for several years and my homeowners kept going up and up. I switched to
Traveler's and the homeowners was almost HALF as much.

When we bought a house in Memphis last year, I got several quotes for home and
Auto. State Farm was the best. Some companies had a better deal on the house
OR the car. But, with the multiline discounts State Farm beat all of them by a
pretty good margin.

ALSO remember the 81 240D I bought from Kaleb? It is for sale. I actually
got the a/c working. There is definitely something wrong with the accelerator
linkage. It is SLOW. And when I pull the lever under the hood, it does not go
all the way to the stop point. It still runs good. I put it on facebook and
disclosed all the warts and priced it to sell for $1950. I have had tons of
interest, but no buyers yet. I can't imagine driving one of these with an
automatic. The 4 speed is sort of fun. And even though I have a MUCH nice
newer car, my 10 year old is constantly asking if we can take the Mercedes. He
said my other car is too smooth. He likes how the Diesel bounces around.

2021-07-15 Thread Allan Streib via Mercedes
I would try to get some local references to agencies that represent multiple
companies. Don't follow those where there is a potential conflict of interest
(such as when your mortgage lender tries to push you to their preferred
insurer, I tried that once and it was a disaster).

I would not trust online insurance. I want someone with a local office where I
can get a face-to-face meeting if needed.

Re: [MBZ] I have really got to dump USAA soon

I’m sure that will be the excuse but that is a temporary spike in pricing that
has already come way down.

Received the renewal notice for Okie Acres. Last year they jacked it up from
around $3400 a year (which was up from about $2600 the year before) to $4300.
Renewal for this year is up to $5400. WTF??? That is totally insane. Never had
a claim with them, have 5 cars and 2 houses insured, lord only knows what the
renewal for the other house will be. I had to do a double take on the amount.
USAA is pricing themselves out of business.

I wonder if I should do quotes online or actually visit several agents in
person. Maybe one of those that sell insurance several different companies.
