How big is the motor on that? I'm thinking to get a gen-head and put it on my Cub Cadet 7hp tractor. The question is how big. Most 3k gensets are a 5hp motor, I'm wondering what 7hp buys me. 3000/5=600 so 600w:1hp? In which case 600*7=4200. A quick Google seems to show that to be approximately correct, 4000 watt gens tend to have a 6.5hp motor. None of the stores have any power, there aren't any generators or 12v sump pumps for sale... The grocery stores were open but not for anything refridgerated, we bought some bread and canned food. They're saying we may have to wait until Monday for power. It looks like WWIII has hit, trees and tree branches down everywhere... Fortunately the rain quit so the water has receeded. Its getting cold they're calling for "flash freeze" tonight. We'll be okay though, I made sure all the batteries I could get my hands on are charged and I parked the 190D right in front of the house where I can easily run a line to it. I bought a 1200 watt 2 stroke generator from Amazon today. I had a $100 gift card for my 5 year anniversry at work so it ended up costing $58... Bought all my wife's Christmas presents while I was at it. Now I know how the RE crowd feels, I've got power enough but I need to manage it carefully. John Robbins wrote: You could always get a 12V power inverter. Fire up the car and you'll get standard 120V AC. He's got 400W but it won't start the sump pump. I'm wondering how many of the inverters have a waveform that's acceptable for pump motors. Square wave sure won't cut it, what about "modified sine"? Later on if our hardware store opens I'll buy one of those drill pumps and burn out my old 12v cordless drill, I'll hook it to a motorcycle battery. Can you buy a 12v sump pump, or are they all sold out? You've got diesel mbz batteries. Weren't you talking about buying a mini generator to take to the cabin? That should run a 1/6hp sump pump easily.
