Question popped up on the MBCA 115 forum about a 615 engine and leak
down as well as compression.   Fellow took his car to mechanic who
gives him compression numbers in the 320-340psi range with and claims
that is low.


Doesn't sound that low.

It is actually spot on for the engine according to the Benz manual.  I 
had to convert bars to psi to figure out that is was perfect.

Thanks!  I rec'd another catalog yesterday and noticed the different sites - 
I saw stuff I wanted to buy on the HarborfreightUSA website and was able to 
use the harborfreight.com website to ordder the stufff  avoid visiting the 
store.

First of all, tell him go sign up here.  Next, his vacuum pump is bad, 
its pulling oil from there.  His compression is fine.

Was looking thru the latest Harbor Freight Tools catalog (they know my 
weakness) and found a couple of things that would be handy for the MBs --

a cylinder leak-down tester for $40
a Diesel Engine Compression Tester - $18 - I'll probably buy one of these -
a Fuel Injection Pump Pressure Tester for $8 - at this price I gotta buy one 
even if I only use it once.

Subject: [MBZ] Interesting Tools



Was looking thru the latest Harbor Freight Tools catalog (they know my
weakness) and found a couple of things that would be handy for the 
MBs --

a cylinder leak-down tester for $40
a Diesel Engine Compression Tester - $18 - I'll probably buy one of
these -
a Fuel Injection Pump Pressure Tester for $8 - at this price I gotta buy
one
even if I only use it once.
;-)

Lots of other stuff also - but this caught my eye -

I can't imagine wrenching on cars, bicycles, or anything else and NOT
having a set of hex sockets!  Since I got mine I haven't touched the
old hard-to-grip, hand-mangling traditional Allen keys.
