It’s really sort of sad. The seller is clearly attached to it if you read the
listing. It’s pretty junky and really has no functional purpose. You couldn’t
even salvage parts off of it, it’s so beat up.

I can see where it would have been cool for a little kid, though.

Our 64 and 67 all window vans both had the wall. The 70 had the
gap to walk through. A girlfriend's 62 panel van with just the
window in the rear hatch also had the wall. I think that in those
early years the wall was standard. It is possible that after the
redesign in 68 with the big front window that the walk through
was made the standard at least over here but I don't know enough
about the history of it all to say for sure. At the same time the
roof vent system in the front was changed and the placement of
the heater and vent control was moved to the dash which allowed
the floor to be flat from front to back. Before that the heater
control was in the center under the front of the bench seat.

It depends on if you had the bench front seat or not. I *think* bench seats
were an upgrade. John Muir mentions this in the idiot book, his bus had the

How about moving the messages before, say, July 2013 to a different (new)

Given that most of my driving has been long trips, my favorite cars
to drive are the 110 Diesel and the 126 Diesel, (along with the
Quantum turbodiesel) The boxy 110/111/112 have wonderful trunk
space. COmpared to the 123, the 110 is light, nimble and responsive,
where the 123 got a mushier us type suspension. The 126 has heavy
steering, but it is quite responsive, and the ride is unmatched.

The 110 also has appeal because of its simplicity, while still (1963
on) having front disk brakes, PB, and in most cases PS.

The visibility is wonderful and the heater is wonderful when set up
properly. 110/111/112 are easy to service. The big chrome and
aluminum grill is real.

I've never tried it but I am sure the rear suspension from a 115 can
be put under a heckflosse, and the ball joiint front LCA and UCA
could be put on also for updates.

My guess is that these pictures are old and taken at a time when the car
 was in better health.

This 1964 Mercedes-Benz 220 b sedan is *rough condition* and is currently
*not in running condition*. It has been sitting for a few years and will
need some work to get going again. The car is complete however the interior
has been removed prior to starting a full restoration that I never had time
for. I rebuilt most of the engine components 10 years ago and I completely
replace the exhaust system with all factory parts two years ago. *There is
rust* in several places including the front fenders, floor boards and trunk
wells. The interior is in poor condition and *will need complete
replacement*. This car could be restored and I would hope that it would be
but it would also make a good parts car.

Given that, I doubt it will be an easy flip and I don't think Kaleb has
the time to do a resto, specially seeing he is off to lie on a beach
 somewhere.
Also I doubt that it is that possible to buy a car on fleabay and flip it
for a good number of $$$'s.
Now if the elderly neighbour has an old car sitting in the shed.

Re: [MBZ] Kaleb needs a rusty finnie without seats!!!!!

2014-01-05 Thread Dieselhead
I still long for my 115 (R.I.P.). If I ever see one that's rebuilt
or rebuildable, I'll probably buy it. It is my all time favorite
Mercedes for driving around a small town or small city.

Gerry

I excluded the 115 dissel ( /8 )from my list because I never drove
one much. My only experience was driving a 76 300D 115 about 500
miles on its final journey. It was sad, but the old car ran great
with the rusty back fenders flapping in the wind and parts and pieces
falling off in a jetsam trail after each bump.

The /8 visiblity is as good as heckflosse, and in general although
some improvements were made, the /8 is not much different in the good
qualities than the heckflosse. The big improvement was the fully
independent rear suspension. In return, the trunk was not as
cavernous as the heckflosse. After '75, the extra cylinder was
available, that that was good for interstate highway merging.

If you love a /8, you will love driving a heckflosse, and vice versa.

Not sure you can use the fin tail suspension on a w115. W116 rear end is the
same as R107

110 is light, nimble and responsive, where the 123 got a mushier us type
suspension. The 126 has heavy steering, but it is quite responsive, and the
 ride is unmatched.

The 110 also has appeal because of its simplicity, while still (1963 on)
having front disk brakes, PB, and in most cases PS.

The visibility is wonderful and the heater is wonderful when set up properly.
110/111/112 are easy to service. The big chrome and aluminum grill is real.

I've never tried it but I am sure the rear suspension from a 115 can be put
under a heckflosse, and the ball joiint front LCA and UCA could be put on
 also for updates.

I fail to see the allure of the heckflosse models, given their primitive
technology and boxy appearance. Perhaps it's their sentimental appeal to
 oldtimers.

miss mine except for the $$$ parts.

Maybe Jaime will let you drive his some time.
