I just now downloaded Sylpheed which went to the temp folder.  I looked for 
the temp folder via Windows Explorer with no success.  Can someone tell me 
where its hiding?  Search couldn't find it.

In search, click on more advanced options. Then tell it to search in hidden
and system folders. Micro$hit software sux, doesn't it?

I couldn't find anything about advanced option on search on this version of 
WinXP.  I agree, Microsoft has always sucked.  I'm moving to Linux slowly as 
I learn.

First window, What do you want to search for? Click on all files and folders
Next, you should have boxes for file name, file content, drive selection,
and below the boxes, pull down options menus for when was it modified, 
what size is it, and More advanced options.

The temp internet folder is usually buried in your user folder under My 
documents, however it's been a few weeks since I dug around in windows 
and my memory banks are flat out trying to work out Linux. Easiest thing 
is to go back to the download website and click on the download link. 
This should bring up the window where it will tell you the file name and 
the location of the temp folder (you have to follow the directory tree 
up to figure out the path)

Or use Firefox with a download manager add-in, and tell it where to go, 
launch it from the download bar/menu, etc.  Then you won't have to deal 
much with XP.

I recall the discussion a few weeks back about emails reading and 
management and such, and wanted to mention something in that regard.  I 
downloaded the Mozilla Thunderbird client to a laptop I am using while 
traveling, and this version has some nice features for thread grouping 
and other things.  I am not sure yet exactly how they work, as it just 
sorta is there in my new install, but y'all might want to check it out.  
There are add-ons for it too, I have not loaded any of those, but you 
can customize the client as you want with them.

It is built on GTK2, which means it should be possible to port
it to Windows - but I don't think anyone has.

Each email has a practically unique number. It shows up in the
header Message-ID: There is also a header called
In-Reply-To: that is the message ID for the email that was
open when the reply button was pushed. This is all the
information needed to build a threaded display. It works until
some client or server stripes the headers

Many (or most?) trojans, worms, and viruses are really Outlook
problems. Using Thunderbird dodges those.
