Delvac 1300 Super is what my friend's mom ran in her 300TD wagon for 250Kmi until someone rear-ended her and totaled the car. Well, that is what is now in my VW Quantum DT ... as of about a half hour ago. I will switch back to Mobil 1 when the temps drop -- since Delvac 1300 15W-40 has a pour point of -22F (that's getting near to something to be expected during an Iowa winter). If it's a TDI, I'd stay with a synthetic Mobil 1 or whatever VW recommends. If it's for an older VW diesel it's likely just fine. I also like Cheveron Delo, you can often pick up a 6 gallon case at [Sams|Costco] for a good price. Lots of people like Rotella but I've heard it's really a pretty average oil -- nothing special other than being diesel rated. -- 1983 300D 1966 230

I used it once as a transition oil in Gump going from the sludge when i got it to the second change out a thousand miles later to M1 Truck and SUV.
