We do get off track but this is one aspect that makes the group interesting. Post a Mercedes related question see how many responses you get. Tom www.kegkits.com Absolutely. You can ask a question on most any topic on this forum and the correct answer, if there is one, will be posted in a day or two. And that INCLUDES MB questions. I was on the yahell groups MB diesel list in addition to this one and quit because of all the mis-information being handed out. I rebutted a lot of it at the time, but I just couldn't do it all. There has been a lot of MB stuff too. Not always about repairs etc but quite a bit of what do you think sort of thread. Won't get much about the car from me at this time of year as it is sitting tight in my garage waiting for warmer weather. Won't drive it until at least April sometime and won't get to work on it until then either as it is too cold. Sometimes a thought about future maintenance crops up but mostly my repair type queries will occur during the warmer time of year. I get 10 to 20 list a day. I check the first one and the last one and if there is too much OT I will delete all the other ones. Now this is an injustice to the legitimate entries. People who want to find a good answer for a Mercedes question are lost in the maze. I don't think I have read more than a dozen questions in the last year and certainly haven't contributed to any discussions due to this OT problem. As someone said a while back, it is an open form and anything goes (that was about the time I stopped reading all the questions) but IMHO I believe we need to go back to the original form of Mercedes questions or at least questions pertaining to cars. If you're going to read newsgroups or subscribe to mail lists, you really need to do yourself a favor and get a good mail client. Microsoft Outlook is not one. Apple OS X Mail is not one. Thunderbird last I used it is not one. Web clients are not either. You need to be able to sort by thread, author, subject, date at minimum. Most can do that, though all but a few are very weak at keeping threads together if someone alters the Subject: line. You need to be able to killfile authors, subjects, and threads so you never see them again even if they are active. The really best mail readers that I know of are all text based, and tend to be arcane for a lot of people. There must be one or two good GUI ones though --- unfortunately I don't know what they are. I click the subject heading in Outlook Express. That groups the submissions according to the subjects title. I then open one of the subject titles to see if it interests me. If not, I delete everything with that title. it only takes a few minutes and I seldom miss anything I'm interested in. Simply because of the large volume of OT compared to repair questions, I would suggest that those with repair questions head their subject line with the word REPAIR in capital letters, or some similar word. Clicking on Subject at the top of the subject column would then group the repair questions and answers together and all the remaining OT could be discarded if the member was not interested.
