Speaking of BMW diesels, I saw one of these on I-5 today--kinda endearing in an amphibian sorta way. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemcategory=50056item=4560499512 On 7/6/05, Steve MacSween [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Full points to the seller for honesty in trading, but I almost died of laughter reading the listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemcategory=6008item= 4560170629rd=1ssPageName=WDVW Casey Biodiesel: '87 300TD intercooler (206k) '84 300D (202k) Gashuffer: '89 Vanagon Wolfsburg Edition (184k) Olympia, WA

I love that auction, 16k buy it now, this RV will be worth over 20k if restored, BTW, the air suspension was recently removed, so plan on a very expensive restoration. Oh, yeah, when we ripped out the air ride, we cut the hoses, and now the air lift roof doesn't work, but it'll work just fine if you just plug the suspension lines. ROTFL

I might be wrong, but that speedo looks like it read 305k--that's not too bad. In addition to my French diesel fantasies, I've been daydreaming about finding a cheap 524td for some go-fast experimentations. More prone for problems than ill fated #14 603 heads, and a bit pricier to repair. They do handle nicely and are quite snappy. IIRC, there is even a stick option with a turbo. K

Wow. How bad are BMWs compared to Mercedes anyway? I have seldom seen a comparably aged M-B in such a sorry state.
