Came across a set of Ohm Acoustics FRS-15 on CL.  The owner wants $200 for the
pair, says they're in excellent condition, both cosmetically and mechanically.

I may go check them out.

Any opinions on Ohm Acoustics?  I already Googled them and found their web site
and several threads in audio forums on them.  The manufacturer is still around,
and want big $$ for repairs.

Hmm.

Subject: [MBZ] OT: DCM speakers (was: OT: Bang & Olufsen Beomaster / Vintage
Stereo)

I just did an A/B of my Time Windows (no model number on the back, so
I guess they are version 1.0, as it were) and Time Frame 400s.

I think my earlier off-the-cuff assessment was pretty accurate.  The
Time Frames seem to have a sort of built-in smile-shaped frequency
response.  Treble is sharper, almost shrill.  There's much more bass
but it's not at all boomy or thumpy.

The Time Windows have a smooth, warm, even sound all across the
spectrum.  The best way I can describe it is that it's kind of like
listening to vinyl on a good turntable for the first time after
getting used to CDs.  There's definitely much less bass than with the
Time Frames, though. I can see why Jim uses a subwoofer with his Time
Windows.

The differences are really more subtle than I have made them out to
be.  I'm sure non-audiophiles would not be able to tell the
difference, or if they could, wouldn't care.  I would be perfectly
happy with either, I'd just turn down the treble a notch on my preamp
if I were to use the Time Frames.
